New York Mets 2025 Season

Mets seem to have a ton of “frontrunner” hitters. One of the reasons for their many lopsided wins.
Now up 2-1 but Lindor, Soto, Alfonso and Nimmo 0-4 RISP after 2 innings. Torrens with the 2 RBI hit.
Shut me up, huge hit by Soto as gman posted.

It is difficult to fathom that on Sept. 1 the Mets are trotting out one of the worst pitching staffs I have ever seen.
To be leaning on McLean and Tong, with 4 starts between them and not one reliable reliever is insane.

This is a little over-the-top. Peterson has had a very good year in spite of his last start. Holmes has been as good as anyone could have expected and is just gutting it through literally doubling his highest innings output his career. Megill is the same as almost every other #5 in baseball. Manaea is trying to add another 1-2 innings of endurance after missing the whole year. And we have two stud rookies. And then there is Senga who can be a legit ace if he gets it going.

Starting pitching should be a + the last month of the season, and even more if Senga figures it out. The timing and overlap of some of this stuff is what makes it look worse than it really is.

We can’t trust Helsley with a 4 run lead…they better not blow this one. I didn’t realize we have blown 23 leads this season.

Well they started out September with a 10 spot and they got the win. 11-5 when they score 6 runs since August 1st. One win when they don’t. Reds won so it’s still 4 games. That won’t be an easy series. The Reds can pitch.

Our era in August was 4.97 which is 4th worst

I don't think that is unreasonable given the timing of our issues. We lost an all-star pitcher for the year, Megill has been out most of the season, Holmes and Peterson are battling fatigue after carrying the staff all year, Manaea and Senga coming back from injury and not being quite right....

Megill is ready, it seems like Manaea is just a matter of when, the rookies are dealing, and it's very possible Holmes is strong enough to keep pitching.

Manaea , Holmes and Senga should not start another game this year. I don’t care who they throw out there at this point. Give Sproat and Megill a chance.

The only difference today is that the Mets won the game. I was family BBQ guy so I had the game on inside and could only follow it when I had a chance.

So my day goes something like this down 1-0 up 2-1. Okay. Then down 3-2 come back and up 6-3. No way we can lose this one! Uh oh it’s 6-5. I miss the next few innings and it’s safely 9-6 and 10-6. I knew it wasn’t safe it’s 10-8? Every time the score looked good we gave up a couple of runs.
