New York Mets 2025 Season

Jared Young had a 2RHr and a double in this game. Weird but word is Mendy and the organization love him. Pitching version of Griffin Canning?
If you look at his stats, he has always consistently hit. OPS over .700 with Cubs (limited playing time), smashed minor league pitching and dominated KBO.

Love that he can play three positions, and also, he has two minor league options left. So it’s great depth.

Obviously this is a 1% outcome, but this is the type of move the Dodgers make and his name ends up being Max Muncy

He did kind of come out of nowhere and got inserted into premium spots in the order, which does lend itself to the idea that the staff really believes in him.

I'm rooting for him, he had a great game last night. Would be fantastic if he can blossom with us

Not sure if anyone posted this, but the Mets DFA'd Jose Azocar to make room for Young. I felt Azocar was a waste of a roster spot with Taylor playing so well and us having so many guys that can play center. We have some ground-ball pitchers and Siri is not far off.

FWIW, we are 5-0 when McNeil plays in center. He is batting .500 with a .563 OBP in his 5 games in center this year. It's odd, but he seems to play better offensively when he's being moved around in game or playing new positions. I will reiterate that I want McNeil traded and his contract is disgusting so Sirvoo doesn't Negan me;)

More Stearnsian type of move. I assume he is going to Syracuse.

Edit:
Just saw a tweet that the Mets and Yankees tried to sign Arcia to minor league deal. He was released by Braves but he signed a Major League deal with Rockies. So both teams on the prowl for backups in the infield.

Seems like a good move. There is a lot of value in the 26-28 age range for former college players. No risk.

It’s a shame today’s game wasn’t rained out.
Mets played and managed like it was a throw away game. Sure they took 2/3 but the White Sox stink. Exactly the type of loss that hurts you at the end of the season. They cut it to 5-3. Then Mendoza tries to squeeze extra innings out of Waddle. Then it’s 7-3 game over. Too bad.

Nolan McLean with another good outing yesterday: 5.1 innings, 2 runs, 4 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. His ERA after 4 starts in AAA is 2.31. Small sample size, but he's looking on track to join the Mets as a reliever in September.

AJ Ewing is on pace for over 100 steals this season. I know I've been annoying with bringing him up, but his speed just jumps out at you immediately when you see him in person. He's faster than Acuna and Jett Williams. He is 34 for 38 in steals in 42 games. Batting .340 in Brooklyn after hitting .400 in St. Lucie. Playing mostly CF.
