I feel like Will Ferrell in Elf compared to you guys. These problems seem very temporary.I’m so desperate to see something good, I tuned into the ninth of this Yankees game once I saw Stinky Phil Maton was getting the chance to close the door for the rangers
Thought maybe I’d get to see a vintage maton melt down and laugh at it. Nope, pretty clean inning. Secures the win rather easily.
And with that, the city of New York is a combined 1-9 in the month of August. Mets 1-4, Yankees 0-5. All the sudden, the city having zero October baseball isn’t even far fetched.
I hope this is rock bottom and things turn around
I hope you’re rightI feel like Will Ferrell in Elf compared to you guys. These problems seem very temporary.
This rough patch does seem like the team gathering itself for a long postseason run.
We’re built for October, as long as the rotation and our stars hold up their end of the bargain. Holmes is a premium three inning October guy.I feel like Will Ferrell in Elf compared to you guys. These problems seem very temporary.

gotta get there first...We’re built for October....
Well, it's already been 10 innings. We might get no hit tonight. I think the fan will be more embarrassed than the team.
I agree 100%. No hitter might have changed some things.that Soto HR to break up the no no almost has me angry LOL. I had myself convinced the no hitter could be a wake up call. Now this is just a forgettable 5-1 loss![]()
At this point I expect to see some of the young pitchers up in a couple of weeks. However, it might be too late by then.Even in the modern game where pitchers are babied and allowed to get away with poor mechanics, you still need starters that go at least six innings, and hopefully seven. Only Peterson has done that with any kind of regularity. Montas is terrible and has been for years, Blackburn is one of the worst starting pitchers in MLB, Holmes is five innings max, and Senga is in a funk. Manama hasn’t been great either. We caught lightning in a bottle with Canning for a little while, but he was starting to regress when he got hurt. The decision to prioritize Montas over Quintana was a blunder.
My long-winded point is that the strategy of piecing together a starting rotation made up of a collection of 4 and 5 starters - which other than Senga is what we have - is a flawed strategy from the start. It worked to a degree last year, but the staff was on fumes by the Dodgers series because of overuse. This year it is coming apart before our eyes.
