Sproat gave us 6 shutout innings yesterday before we fell apart. It’s the “veteran” stiffs who are killing us.Can’t say enough about McLean showing up and giving that start when the team is clinging to a playoff spot. 12 games left have to make them count
TortureGiants lost… mets go back to being up 1.5 games up. Somehow, we will remain in the playoffs for at least 2 more days

He's not, because the Mets waited past the August 15th deadline to bring him up.Interesting wrinkle with McLean is that he is 12 1/3 innings away from losing his rookie status. If he retains his rookie status and wins Rookie of the Year next season (would be the betting favorite), the Mets would be awarded an extra draft pick after the first round. Looks like he would naturally pitch 2 more game this regular season unless the Mets wanted to line him up for the Wild Card start.
That is a pretty big deal for the Mets as a Competitive Balance Tax team that loses 10 spots annually on its first pick and loses its second round pick if it signs any free agent who received a qualifying offer.
I read it’s 50 IP that will make him lost his rookie statusHe's not, because the Mets waited past the August 15th deadline to bring him up.

Not Manufacturers Hanover, Schickhaus Franks, and Rheingold? If the Mets pitch well and hit well in the same game, I think we have a chance at avoiding another 8-game losing streak.
