had an inkling the Pads would put up some runs last night... 4 legger +600
-Over 2.5 HRs
-Over 3.5 Padres runs
-Over 7.5 Total runs
-Over 2.5 doubles...

the doubles did me in... and it was hilarious watching Soto through out the guy at second (saving a run as well! so much that did lol) - and then Alvy's Double was changes to a HR.... nice... classic 1 leg loss

The Mets are keeping their fans grounded.

Didn't want us to get too excited over a two-game win streak.

Ouch, that’s a killer beat. At least if the stupid team won it would have cushioned the blow a bit.

I know everybody loves David Peterson but in his last 11 starts he has an ERA of 8. Not exactly Fritz.

At what point are we going to rest a pitcher, though? Holmes and Peterson carried the rotation and went way above their innings from the prior year. Peterson has pitched between 105 and 121 innings the last 4 years and he's already at 167.

This was completely predictable to the point that even Marillac was talking about preemptively battling arm fatigue by sticking with a 6 man rotation and skipping starts or sending pitchers to the 10 day IL at the first sign of fatigue.

Load management is one area that I feel we are woefully behind in. You can't pitch a guy 45-60 innings more than he threw prior few years and expect them to be fresh in September and October. We could have and should have gotten in front of this months ago.

Big spot for the Tong kid today

I'm interested in seeing how he responds. He seems like a really smart kid that is capable of making the adjustments. Maybe mix in more than just the 4 seamer and changeup the first few innings. Throwing 2 pitches doesn't seem like a winning recipe in the big leagues.

Really it boils down to the pussification of the modern athlete. Everyone talks about the flopping NBA players but top of my list is the MLB starters! “Ooo I throw too hard and catch pitch as much!”

At the game today. The Padres have a solid team. Tong caught a break in the first with Machado trying to take an extra base. Having some long at bats. Hopefully he can make it through five.

The Padres also have an unlikable team. So much so, they make me root for the Dodgers over them.

Lowest win total to make the playoffs ever is 82 games and only a handful have made it with less than 85. We are lucky that there was a lot of parity and not too many great teams this year.

Such a strange team. We are what we are I guess. This was a good series win. Need to finish off strong on the final 9.

I do feel better about next year with the young pitchers. Tong put his big boy pants on facing a little adversity. McLean and Sproat have performed well.

Facing the Mets in the playoffs is the ultimate in Russian Roulette. No one knows what team will show up. Not even the Mets know.
