New Mexico (MSG), Sun., Nov. 17, 12 Noon, FS-1

Nice win. At the Garden, I was surprised how well New Mexico traveled. They filled two sections and were waiting for a chance to make noise. Glad we kept that under wraps. As far as the St. John's crowd, we're not there yet. Keep winning and the crowds will get larger and louder.

I have been skeptical about Zuby over the first few games, but he was great today. I just love how aggressive he is in the paint and, as mentioned by others, if he can continue to stay out of foul trouble that will be a plus.

Looking forward to the big games coming up!

Just popped in. Is there actually a weird Luis faction on the board now attacking imaginary haters? NO ONE here has ever said he lacked talent or physical gifts.
And no one ever said the what I consider the over the top criticism of him regards his talent or physical abilities rather it is highlighting every mistake he makes. I’ll give the board credit for not doing that today but Luis had to play a great game to keep the critics at bay. His play is often times described as dumb while others make the same mistakes and escape that label.

Unless Wilcher is hurt or Ill , I’m wondering why isn’t he on the Court?
He wasn’t happy…during a timeout stayed on outside and looked disengaged - so atypical for him. Don’t think that he should have sat nor do I think Dunlap should have played just 9 minutes.

That may be the case but the level of athleticism is going to go up over the next few games so I don’t know if we will see too much of a difference in playing time for the bench. I really liked Prey in the game and thought he earned a few more minutes. As someone mentioned above, Wilcher and Dunlap will have to adjust to the physicality cause this team needs them.
Agree re: Prey…very fundamentally sound…knows the game

His presence allowed Scott to sky in for a defensive rebound. We don’t get that with Zuby unfortunately.

His screening is a real weapon. Pay attention to when he starts his roll to the basket. He does it just as the defensive a player approaches the screen which is reminiscent of UConn last year and how the best coaches teach it. The handoffs too…he went straight
from a handoff to an off-ball screen on the other side and he did it reflexively.

He can also drive the ball.
Kid knows the game

The aftertaste of getting screwed over by the thieves on the selection committee played into the way this team was prepared and coached today. Today's game felt like a tournament play in game in early March.
