For those not following, Bowling Green has actually been pretty good this year and hovering around 100 RPI. A win would be huge.
But i thought bowling green was one of our "cupcakes"???? said in jest!!!
No, they're one of the best #114 RPI teams in the history of #114 RPI teams! LOL

Was doing some research on resumes and bid selection and discovered something that I absolutely do not like. The team sheet that the NCAA uses (and I would presume the selection committee) considers our games in the Big East Tournament game to be home games. They do not give us credit for a neutral court.

I also have shifted back to thinking we may need 10 wins in conference plus a win in the BET to get a bid. They may say that teams get bids and not conferences, but the data from last year says otherwise.

Mock all you want. First of all 114 not the cupcake a 250 plus team is. Second of all Oh btw. Just beat buffalo. But I guess you'll find something to knock. Maybe buffalo was on road. Maybe buffalo not that good anyway? It's ok to recognize teams are better than metrics might suggest and before others say it's ok. And also. I never said they were great or even good for that matter. I just said not the cupcake you all think.

That's a really huge win.

We have a good chance at 4/5 top 100 OOC teams (VCU, GT, Rutgers, BG, Duke) this year, while only ONE (Duke) of those teams were top 100 last year.

It's remarkable how much better the top of our OOC has done relative to expectations.

Are you still giggle city after Bowling Green beat #18 Buffalo? That is their 11th win in 12 games.

Princeton played a second day in a row and beat Cornell on the road in OT.

VCU beat George Mason, who had been in first in the A-10.

Good news, despite our 30 point blowout we only moved down 2 spots, from #43 to #45.

VCU with a 16 pt win over George Mason, BG's win over #18 Buffalo, and Princeton's two wins on the road by a combined 21 pts help here.

VCU up to a quad 1 now at #48.

Princeton keeps winning without one of the best players in program history. It's kind of odd to me.

At this point the ball is in our court. We have to start winning, or it won’t make a difference if Bowling Green and VCU sweep the rest of their games.

That's the VCU RAMS over the George Mason PATRIOTS.

Foreshadowing?

I don't think so. Admittedly, I didn't see much of the Rams game, but the tiny bit I did at the end for the two FG drives Goff (who I love long term) looked shook.

Donald and Suh are the best pair of interior defensive lineman this league has ever seen so that makes it difficult on me. Pressure up the middle is exponentially harder than pressure from the outside where you can chip or put a back on that side. But it's Brady.

Patriots win their last super bowl in this incredible run. I predict they will lose next year in the AFC champinship game and then the wheels will fall off without Edelman and Gronk.

In terms of Quad 1 wins...

Home- Top 30
Neutral- Top 50
Away- Top 75 (I could be wrong, maybe Top 70?)

Current:
#48 VCU N- not safe
#18 Marquette H- safe (barring a collapse)
#59 Creighton A- safe (barring a collapse)

Potential Current:
#82 Georgetown A- unlikely but certainly could become Q1

Upcoming:
#18 Marquette A- would definitely remain Q1
#19 Villanova H- would most likely remain Q1

#80 Providence A- unlikely but certainly could become Q1
#93 Xavier A- very unlikely to become Q1

I think 4 Q1 wins would be good enough for a bid. Would be great if we could knock off Marquette, Nova or Providence on the road.

I noticed Washington this morning since they were the first team out of the AP Top 25 despite being undefeated in the Pac 12. They only have 2 Q1 Ws (both unsafe borderline teams that could become Q2), and only a couple more opportunities. The best Pac 12 team on their schedule is ranked #61.

I appreciate you sharing this analysis each week, keep it up.

Just out of curiosity, say we land in the 3-6 range for the BET. That counts as a neutral site? So what are the odds our first round opponent is a Q1? I'm guessing it would be one of Creighton, Seton Hall or Georgetown. Certainly looking like Providence, Butler, DePaul and Xavier could be playing the first night.
