nd game

so far so good. up 1 at half. the problem is curlys going to play the 2nd half. hopefully he picks up a quick 3rd and they have to sit him

freshman and sophomore talent...
at times it looks phenomenal, at times it looks like garbage.
glad to see ND big guy watching most of the first half.
hopefully he picks up his third and fourth early in the "3rd quarter".

If Harrison hits a few within the context of a team offense, we can
be in the game in the final moments, then ...who knows.
Nice to see Jones get a few minutes of action.

Is this the same team?

Say what you want about this team.....but there is no doubt that the talent is definitely there!!

Playing great. Strategy had been great. We'd be way ahead if not for early mistakes with screens on defense. Like i said, it's not the coaching, it's the execution. We execute and we can play with anybody. We are still missing some pieces and are very young, but you can see we have a good core of player's here and will eventually get to the point the fans want to be at. Add guys like Lawrence and Jordan to this group who will be upperclassmen and things I think will look different.

I'll add that Harrison looks controlled out there, and IMO its a big reason we are playing well. Offensive spacing and passing have been great. Need to keep it up like this the rest of the season on offense.

Kids are playing hard
No way would I expect us to be ahead at halftime with Harrison only scoring 2 points
But we have absolutely no concept about fundamental defensive principles
The word HELP is non-existent in their vocabulary
We overplay kids 30 feet (or more) from the hoop, get beat off the dribble and have no help defense inside
The ND players must have been farting up a storm in the first 10-12 minutes of the game
It's the only way to explain why, at least 5 times, ND players were all alone underneath for an uncontested layup

No, we "overplay" because we chose to shut down their 3-point threat. The only reason they were soooo wide open was due to some good screens down low and some big mistakes by us. This Notre Dsme is not only a fantastic shooting team from the outside, but they are 2nd in the nation in a/to ratio.

We committed to overplay their guards and passing lanes and we have negated their outside shooting thus far. We did all that while resting Obekpa much of the first half. Is a calculated risk and we have thrown a big monkey wrench into their offensive execution. Notre Dame has already turned it over almost 10 times, because we overplay them.

We certainly need to do a better job communicating on screen/rolls etc on Cooley. Still need to be aggressive on their perimeter players.

Just back to the office after a meeting. Note from the box score that CO has been invisible. Any story? Is he playing? 1 rebound, 0 shots per ESPN. Still good to see a lead at the under 7.

he's only played a few minutes. not sure why

Lavin kills the intensity and flow of his players offensively when they go into the stall offense. This is ridiculous.
