nd game

I was there Sat. and will be there again tonight. Keep the Faith !!

I have faith, just don't want to waste my time and $$ again. Looking ahead if we can steal this one- our schedule gets easier-- Depaul, Rutgers, SH, then Depaul. A win tonight would be huge.

Hate to see anyone on our team go down, and have loved Phil's competitiveness, but believe he has been playing out of position at PG. Has he been serviceable for a young/inexperienced team, yes, but I am excited to see what Branch can do full-time and for Felix and Marco get more time- it will serve them well and we might like what we see.

I'll be there, anyone know if section 4 behind the SJU bench or ND (visitor)?

According to Lenn Robbins' NYP article, Lavin is switching to a 3 guard lineup, with Branch taking Amir's minutes. Please, someone explain why this makes sense? If PG4 is hurting, and he clearly is, why not let Branch and Harrison play with a combo of Amir and Dom at 3 with Obekpa and Sampson? PG4 could spell either Branch or Harrison, or even Amir.

Agree. But, if he does go 3 guard, it better be Branch at point....when he went 3 guard against Villanova, he had PG4 at point which is ridiculous

Anyone actually going tonight? I was planning on it- but after catching a 930 Am train Saturday to watch such a pathetic showing I think i'll watch from my couch.

Going...as diificult as it is to watch them, I have the tix and gotta support them

I'm sure there's something to Phil Greene and his injury, but honestly I think his confidence is hurting as much as anything. Even with him a bit hurt, I think Greene can beat an opponent's SF off the bounce, which he couldn't do against an opponents PG. I also think we need him out there and shooting it well (just not as the PG). We really need another shooter on the floor and I think Lav is just trying to get him back into some kind of rhythm offensively.
TRab...lets hope he has him on the wing and not running point

Good for you, i'll be watching. The ticket office, as of last Friday, said only 6 or 7 k sold for tonight-- should be a small crowd.

5 point dogs.

If we keep them that close, I'll be impressed.

I wouldn't be surprised at all, if we keep it close (if not win it). We've been playing Notre Dame rather tough (especially, at home) over the past few seasons. We've also walked away with several wins, even though they were, supposedly, the better team.

Expect a close one, this evening.

Like many Chicago kids he plays tough and does not back down but he is just not a Big East starter by any stretch of the imagination. This is not going to be an NCAA year so if he is hurting, let him rehab but not during a game where we are handicapped as it is. Let Branch get his minutes and Felix and Marc play clearly defined roles.

Which office, MSG or SJU ? Expect a 2 - 3K walk up at the Garden. ND is having a good year and they draw well. We also seem to play them well. They usually can't keep up with our athletes and we've had more then our share of success against them. Coming off 2 losses, season on the brink, I expect us to have our easiest, most impressive victory tonight.

I thought we learned from the Rutgers game not to look ahead.

After beating Cincy, guys came in here talking about the next 5 "winnable" games and being nationally ranked.

We proceeded to get beat by Rutgers and slaughtered by GTown.

I don't see anything easier coming up.

Reason why I was looking ahead was because I was talking about SJU turning the corner and after that cincy win this looked like the perfect time. RU looked like a winnable game, G-Town has a tough time scoring and we`d be 3-1, steal a win tonight and we`d be 4-1. Also said that I don`t expect it to happen but I`m hoping for it to happen.
Oh well we all know how that turned out.

As for tonights game, it`s the most interesting game for the new group (Lavins kids). I`m real interested to see how they regroup from Saturdays game. They say that they were so embarrassed now if they go out and get blown out again then their talk was cheap. If they lose but give it their all then I can accept that.
To me if they get blown out tonight then the season is already over.

As for going to tonights game, I`ll pass. I`m not going if they are going to get waxed and the opponents fans have a great ole time at our expense.

If we somehow can pull off an upset tonight, will you reconsider and go to the game.

From the presser seems that Phil's injury is pretty serious. Lavin talks about possibly shutting him down early and Green having surgery. Yikes -- even if you're not a fan of Phil's play would be nice to have him for depth. I wonder how much the injury has affected his play.
Didn't PG get to the rim some last year? Even a miss off a drive gives you a good put back chance. Phil seems to be pulling himself up. That kinda the offence at its worst.

There is an old street racing expression "You run what you brung". We brung Lavin and the players we have on the floor. It is our team with all the limitations of no inside game, no beef, one outside shooting threat, poor shooting in general, redshirts and indelible players. Yet, somehow we beat Cincy and had quite a few close ones to real good teams. Let's just enjoy the ride from now on and see if any of those pieces to this puzzle come together. More Bourgault? More Balamou? More Branch and more shotts? An appearance by Jones? Obekpa posting a little, turning around and passing to a cutter, Phil driving and shooting. Amir and Jakarr having good games? There are lots to enjoy about the game whatever happens. Enjoy the game. Go Redmen!

If they win then I`ll go to the next MSG game. Where is the SHU game? I`m not trooping it to Carnesecca
