NCAA Tournament

I actually think SD State has the size, depth & toughness to give UCONN a good game if they can find a way to score.
That’s what I think too. I originally thought Gonzaga would have been their toughest opponent, but we know how that turned out. If UCONN wins, and I think it highly likely, I don’t think it will be by double digits, as every other one of their wins in this tournament has been.

I know UConn is a great team this year. But they are about to win the title, and have somehow avoided playing top seeds this entire tournament. They are about to face their third 5 seed, and have also played a 3 seed, 8 seed and 13 seed.
I’m not sure it would have much of a difference. They look so much better than the field right now.

I think you throw that out this tournament. Nobody else was beating any seed on a consistent basis.

I’m not in the i hate this team, I hate this player camp. I have been a St Johns rooter before most of you were born. Whatever is good for St Johns is good for me.

A UConn win is good for the Big East. Bigger TV contracts, bigger attendance and greater national exposure. No more sitting around hoping we get six teams in the tourney. We get respect.

So put aside your prejudices and root for the Big East and we all win.

This certainly helps when you are negotiating a tv contract. Big East proves its strength and depth.

Nope can’t do it.

Ummm, no.

I am keeping my prejudices front and center. I loathe UConn with the heat of a thousand suns.

bravo sdsu.
my nephew is good friends with mark fisher, the assistant to sdsu's head basketball coach.
when my nephew got married in san diego, mark and I sat at the same table during the reception.
he is a wonderful and humble guy. we talked about his national championship and the fab 5.
I asked him how many times did the school see polee play, before offering him a schollie.
he said they only saw him once, in a 4 on 4 pickup game.
although my nephew and his wife live in san diego and are both BC grads, a SJU pennant is on their house wall.

As much as it hurts my heart tend to agree. Makes it easier that while I apprecite SDSU's rock fight approach it's not one I like watching.

SDSU has NO shot on Monday
You're right. I agree, but neither did Nova against G*town in '85, or Valvano in another age with NC State. You neva know, but that'd be just too, too sweet.

At this point I am (amazingly) in this camp since I figure their fans can't get worse than they are. I still think they leave soon but it's a few bucks until then, and this shuts up some of my Syracuse fan friends who still won't admit the Big East didn't become a mid-major ten years ago. For now.

But my "rooting" will be very passive, I will be watching baseball Monday.

Hey if uconn wins we can say we beat the national champions
Additionally the last time UConn won a national championship, as a Big East Conference representative (in 2011), their worst loss of that season was in their only matchup that year against St. John's by 17 points.

Dutchers got some giant ones. Not fouling down 1 with only a 6.4 second discrepancy between shotlock and game clock is certainly a risk. He trusted his defense that had been there all year. FAU started their drive with 6 second left on the shot clock, if only they were a tad bit more patient.

I thought FAU messed up calling the first timeout, they had matchups set up. SDSU went big originally, by calling the TO they let SDSU take out one of the bigs.

Thought I heard someone say SD ST had 3 bigs still on the court when they got the stop and the bucket. Not positive.

Until FAU called that timeout with a little less than 20 seconds left, I think they had expected SDST to foul, so they never really got into anything and May felt like he needs to call the TO. Great game. SDST didn’t hold the lead for any duration of time in the 2nd half, just when the clock expired.
