NCAA - Game 1 - San Diego St. (Friday)

SDSU barely scores, but;

@NYPost_Brazille: San Diego State is a methodical team, very slow paced. Interesting contrast to #sjubb

@SJUCoachLavin: San Diego State prefers an up-tempo style of play, similar to ours. #SJUBB

different scouting reports I guess. :)

This thread is a breath of fresh air after reading the posts on the Obekpa Suspension thread. Onward and upward. I'm hoping the boys break from the gate against SD with a vengeance, especially on defense, force turnovers and take the ball to the hoop on the break. They need to play with an attitude This game is winnable. We'll cross the game #2 bridge when we get to it. GO REMEN!!!

looks like we had 1 common opponent Long Beach st. SD St beat them 60-59 we beat them 12 days later 66-49. So we should win by 16

Which one is it?

I've only seen SDSU twice this year. Once was early in the year and I don't recall how they played. I also saw them play Wyoming in the conference final and they seemed to play at a pretty fast pace. They didn't seem very methodical to me.

Shepherd and the fresman Pope seemed like their two best players. Chol is also strong inside. He may be a matchup problem for us without CO.

Darcy knew Lunardi's bracket was right on.
Joe Lunardi is currently projecting St. John's (20-9, 9-7 Big East) as a No. 8 seed -- facing No. 9 seed Texas A&M in the first round before a likely rematch with No. 1 seed Duke. Remember, the Red Storm gave the Blue Devils a strong challenge at Madison Square Garden in late January before wilting down the stretch.

Braziller hasn't played a minute of organized basketball in his life. San Diego State slow and methodical? Is he serious? Talk about looking at #s and drawing a conclusion. SDSU can't shoot. They are long and athletic and do not play slow. They can only score off their D (sound familiar?). They shoot 62% from the FT line. They averaged 8 more ppg last season...I doubt their system changed. Another thorough job by Braziller :evil:

If we shoot, we'll win.

I've said this a couple times tonight but even without obekpa loving this matchup. Loving it. Rebounding will be an issue but if we can do that and hit shots we have a date with Robert Morris to look forward to.
