NCAA Breakdown & Matchups
Happy for Villanova and the Big East for reaching the Final Four.

Texas Tech was very well coached and prepared but Villanova has been there before and got the job done.

Interesting take aways from Texas Tech:  Chris Beard abandoned his contract at UNLV to coach at TT to be with his family.  TT and Beard recruited promising Italian guard Davide Moretti who is Federico Mussini clone.  For those that remember Tommy Hamilton IV, he was the 6'11 DePaul center that transferred because he was tired losing.  He was a starter at DePaul but felt he could do better. He felt playing for a better coach would showcase his game better.  When he signed with TT he said "I’m appreciative of the year I got to play for Dave L… But everybody’s not Chris Beard.’’
Well while TT had a very good year and went deep in the tourney, Tommy was relegated to backup and averaged fewer minutes and points than at DePaul.  I could have told him the grass isn't always greener.  Especially in Lubbock were it's never green.  Are you paying attention Tariq???
I think Hamilton was in the Aguirre DePaul class :)

Two of my not-so-favorites...
The only good thing about Duke playing Kansas is that one of them will lose...is it (?) possible for both of them to lose lol
Great first half. Best I've seen Duval look.
Driving ball always his strength. Blowing by guys today.
Horrible call for Carter's fifth foul.
True, but good to see it go against Puke.

Jayhawks a deserving winner in a great game. Saw Norm Roberts out there congratulating his troops. Kansas - Nova should be a barnburner!

Agree. Much relieved to see that layup at the end of regulation roll out.

And the forced shots/misses in OT.

This has been a great tournament. For the Power 5 fans it stings. Two relatively small Catholic universities in the Final Four!

Anybody but Duke for sure. But this scafenfreude gig is getting awfully old.

Exactly right. An acquaintance of mind who is a former college referee told me that coach K actually meets with referees and tells them in no uncertain terms that if they don't make calls in favor of Duke that they won't ever ref an ACC game again. Guess we can choose to believe that statement or not as this acquaintance never refereed an ACC game himself but was told this by colleagues of his.
