Report: Mavericks, Lakers complete absolute blockbuster deal
It is quite simply one of the biggest trades in NBA history.
AD injured as much as Mitchell Robinson. Luka 25 years old. Mark Cuban is nuts. This Mavs-Lakers deal is just bonkers.
Luka just took you to the Finals and is a generational talent.
What?
And he's generational when fat. Imagine if this is what finally prompts him to be in basketball shape year-round.This Mavs-Lakers deal is just bonkers.

First year with Cuban as minority owner. Sheldon Adelson's widow owns them nowAD injured as much as Mitchell Robinson. Luka 25 years old. Mark Cuban is nuts.
Lakers always able to get the superstars goes back to at least Wilt and Kareem. Guess Hollywood has it’s advantages. While the circumstances are different than the Chris Paul trade over a decade ago, but the NBA should veto this deal. It is absurd. A fantasy league commissioner would nix this trade.
If Dallas wanted to trade him that badly, they could have asked around before jumping at the Lakers’ offer. I am sure they have done better, even if Doncic is arrogant and does not stay in shape.
This looks like the NBA was saying “how can we bail out our favorite child from prison again.”
Crazy the list of guys they have gotten that they didn’t draft.Lakers always able to get the superstars goes back to at least Wilt and Kareem. Guess Hollywood has it’s advantages.
Mavs GM should be fired for only getting one first rounder out of this.
I honestly am in the minority where I don't think this is that bad for the Mavs. This getting leaked and having a bidding war would've backfired. There was a story out last year that Luka gained weight during the season -- how is that remotely possible for someone who's playing NBA games? The new CBA has harsh restrictions, and I think people are reacting to this as if it's a CBA from a decade ago. Giving Luka 40% of your cap (aka 70 mill per year), while not trusting him at all to stay in basic NBA shape, is not a no brainer like it once was. I know he's only 26, he was just in the finals, etc. But this being a Zion situation in four years wouldn't shock me.Interesting takes I've heard, not that I buy into either, on this.
#1. Mavs GM only talked to one other team about this. Was afraid word would get out and if it didn't happen he'd have lost Doncic mentallyhfor the rest of his time in Dallas and get nothing when he jumped into Free agency in 18 months. Would only talk to guys he trusted unconditionally and Pelinka was one of two. They've been said to be discussing this for weeks. The fact that none of the insiders had any clue means that while you might question his intentions the GM would be happy with how the process played out. Didn't want a Jimmy Butler type situation.
#2. Stephen A was on Get Up this morning and said that giving Kyrie the ball with AD underneath made Mavs his #2 team in west. LA still not close to that and with a gaping hole in the middle.

That said, I absolutely think the GM failed at getting the maximum package from LA -- they should've got the '31 pick and '30 swap, and Knecht.
But people are acting like Anthony Davis isn't a top 10 player. He is! He's superstar and the best guy they could've gotten in a trade for Luka, especially with a 2-3 year window if you're committed to Kyrie. They actually match-up better against OKC now, as they're much bigger. I agree with Stephen A.
