Our defense is much different with Pointer on the bench which he has been for most of the half.
Blaming the refs is silly IMO; that game was there and we gave it away.[/quote
I agree. The game was there for the taking. I also agree that Phil and D-Lo need a break. If we had our full compliment of players we win this game. If Bourgault had a few games under his belt he would have been a factor from 3pt land and that would have helped us. If we had Branch who is a true point guard it would have helped against the Murray St. pressure and if we had Sanchez as another body inside we win this game by 10 pts. We still should have won anyway.
I guess this is a preview of what to expect this year
Blaming refs is silly? Did you watch the game? It honestly looked fixed at some points. D'Lo was hit in the face, shoved, and almost knocked to the ground RIGHT in front of the ref! No call. So it came down to 5 points...the last 2 minutes of the 1st half are what lost us this game. The refs let them run wild, then they found a cheat code hitting every 3. What a BS game. I really hope the media points out how terrible the refs were because they just cost a big game. It's infuriating because you know they know they got away with a ton. Every out of bounds play, a 3 followed. It was to the point where they might as well close their eyes, chuck it up, and have it go in as a swish. Now we get killed by a Baylor team and we are suddenly 2-2. Not only should we have won this one, but now we will pay double by drawing an even harder opponent. I'm jealous of all the other major teams playing cupcakes while we play legitimate NCAA teams that can make deep runs. Every loss in OOC play means more pressure to win a lot in the Big East and that's near impossible.
no foul on Harrison at the end? looked like it.
we sucked in the 2nd half - but the refs had it out for us.
and we have no one else to blame,
but the calls were f*cking b*llshit

I don't agree with everything you've said, but it seems perfectly legitimate to be angry at the refs during this game. The baloney calls at end of the 1st half killed our momentum, and then the calls in the 2nd half gave the opponent a clear advantage. we didn't play well to close the game - but that doesn't mean we can't be angry at the ref's really bad calling of this game.
