Tomorrow you wake up and realize you were talking about St John’s.
St John's last won 25 games in the 99-00 season FYI.
And they won 31 in the 84-85 season but this is 2018-19, they will win 20+ this year but must win 25 is a bit much.
It should be a good season be happy with that.
I was just pointing out that stat to show how ludicris it sounds that 25 wins is a MUST, something we haven't done in 2 decades.
Got it, we’re on the same page.
With the week out of conference schedule and the Big East being a little down this year, if they don't win 25 games they will only make the NCAA Tournament if they win the Big East Tournament. Which is not out of the realm of possibility with the talent on this team. But, if they want to guarantee themselves an at large bid in the NCAA Tournament and not have to worry about what happens in the BET, then they need 25 wins in the regular season.
The only teams to win 25+ ever were the Riverside Church teams and the Mullin/Berry teams. As good as this team could be, they're not as good as those. But I still can't see a way that they don't dance with a top 4 finish in the BE regular season, at least a semi appearance in the BET and a max of 2 OOC losses.

On the Eve of what should be a successful season for ST John's basketball(interpretations of what constitutes successful will vary) I thought I would just throw a little pearl of wisdom out there. Now I know some of you are going into this season hedging your allegiance. 'If we are good great, if not one way or another Mullin goes away. Win / win for me." There is also another group out there though smaller who are secretly hoping that the season goes South so they can justify there coach bitching and blood lust for Mullin to go away.

Now as a proud survivor of the Norm Roberts reign of terror I can honestly say that I drifted into the first group but never embraced the Dark side of the 2nd group. But here is the advice: Enjoy the season. Root for the team, we have as much talent as we have had in a great while. The cold truth is yes if things go bad Mullin will probably leave one way or another BUT after this year with another rebuild we will not make the tourney for a long, long time! We are not a good basketball program. Have not been for a long while. We as fans need to enjoy the good seasons and hope that maybe it will stick for awhile this time.

Here is hoping we have a nice season and the bitching doesn't start again until we lose in the tourney.
We Are STJohn's!

what kind of relationship does he have with the refs ? Against Loyola he was constantly having issues and this is reminiscent of every game last year .Last night against BG he seemed much less vocal . Did the new AD tell him to cool it ? anyone sit near the bench and has overheard his comments ?

I think at the least people should get credit for turning any thread into a Mullin complaint thread. Shows a lot of creativity. People even managed to blame Mullin for Maher getting a sub par Lobster Roll in the Maher's favorite things thread.

Under what circumstances does Mullin bear any responsibility when the team under performs? How long does he get a free pass?

Can't you take your negative crap to the appropriate thread? What does this comment have to do with the title of this thread?

I don't know I am old fashioned but how about when we lose a game? Nah if some one else was the coach we would have won 4 of our first 3 games

The question is did Ian Steere see the game?
Did you see the game tonight? The man's a genius.:)
He looked totally different then in the BG game when he had his head in his towel.
Tonight he was into it, running on the sidelines, yelling out instructions.
That's what I really like seeing.

I'm not picking on you individually but this is the lunacy and idiocy of this site. To suggest, simply because the team in game 3 put forth a more impressive win, that the coach's effort was greater last night is pure stupidity. It's just an indicator that some of you guys will only be 100% behind our team and more importantly the coaching staff only only when we play very well. We will lose a dozen or more games, and on those nights you and others will revert to shitting all over the team, staff, and school. You and others will suggest that Matt built this team, as if the strategy to focus heavily on transfers did not come from the top. 4 of our starters and 6 of the 1st 7 rotation players are transfers, and only 1 senior is in the group.

I'm sorry, I know you all want to revel after a well played game. But you are also incapable of restraining yourself on the nights where we lose, when there is an injury, or a transfer out. You refuse to trust, to take the bad with the good, and to truly root root root for the home team.

It's funny, but I never realized that the words of our most popular baseball song, close with a sentence about losing or failing. Ultimately in all but the most Villanovaesque seasons, every team goes home a loser. More than likely, our season's dreams will end sooner than later in the dance. Along the way, there will be moments of brilliance, and moments of putrid, horrid basketball. It would help if you stopped analyzing the coach's body language, facial expressions, attire, travel schedule, table sitting, ref bitching, to simply enjoy what's in front of us.

"Let it be" was the 12th and final studio album of the Beatles. We are glad you enjoyed listening to it after reading the " Mullin" thread. After this impressive win coach Mullin has satisfied and silenced all the critics. We will now stop analyzing St. John's basketball, just enjoy, enjoy and enjoy some more what is in front of us. Thank you Paul [strike]McCartney[/strike] Massell for having provided this fan site to express our views. It won't be needed any longer. You can now enjoy your long and we'll earned retirement from having to maintain this site.

You know, and I know, so we really don't have to discuss this do we? On a different note, do you still go to games or r-w pre games. If so, let's meet.

That was an observation that I had, and I liked seeing him very much into it and being very vocal.
If you don't like it then hey, to bad. I really don't care what you like and don't like.

"We will lose a dozen or more games, and on those nights you and others will revert to shitting all over the team, staff, and school."
Beast, to tell you the truth, if they lose 12 or more then you're 100% right. The only ooc team that i see them losing to is Duke. So you're suggestion 7-11 in the B.E? That's a MAJOR DISAPPOINT there bud.

"More than likely, our season's dreams will end sooner than later in the dance."
So you're saying 1st or 2nd rnd aye. I guess in your eyes, this team is at the same level as Lavins last team?
Harrison was that teams best player, you can make a case that Ponds, Heron and LJ are better.
I hope all 3 carry us to atleast the 2nd weekend, maybe even the elite 8?

I like this team a lot. I like the core from last season. Heron is the real deal. Figueroa is a great get. We are deeper than any Lavin squad but short on height. 2 wins in the dance is sweet 16. There are a lot nm of games between now and selection sunday to enjoy. If you go to games hmu and if you are close enough there are many nights I have an extra ticket. Just enjoy it all.

You know and I know ........ one of my favorite Dave Mason songs! Here is a video of him singing it in Canada in 1978. Al Bovino and I were there sharing doobies.
