I can't even believe I'm typing this, but we will have two 6'5 guards! That's legit NBA size at that position. Heron and Simon are matchup nightmares and with Simon/Ponds/Heron as our starting guards, we should steamroll most if not all of the cupcakes and seriously compete with the real big boys.[/quote]

From what I've been told Figueroa, at 6'5" is a great passer. In essence, when any 4 of these guys (Simon, Ponds, Heron, Figueroa, Dixon) are on the court together, ball movement should be terrific and we will be difficult to press.

And Mullin also said he reminds him of a big man version of Ponds. If he's anywhere near as smooth as Slick, we are in for a treat this year.

Gong to have to give Keita and Clark a breather and they will get in foul trouble at times. I see us essentially rotating those 7 guys.

I think Josh Roberts will have to get some time. This is where the week early schedule can actually have a benefit to get him as many minutes as possible because he is the one guy who I think we will need something from other than the guys you mentioned.

Don't sleep on Trimble either, he can shoot and is a strong kid who has worked on his game. I'm not talking about him playing upfront or anything but just as another body for depth. I think he will be better this year.

He will help w the deficiency of bigs.

I'd be shocked if Trimble is not a rotation player (8th man) who will get meaningful minutes.

To me, it appears the depth at 4/5 will be that Keita will get the bulk of minutes, with Clark spelling him at the 5. What I believe that will translate to is Keita getting 23-25 minutes Clark spelling him for 10 at the 5, and others filling in the rest. I figure Clark will get 28-32 mins per game, depending on how some of the newer guys turn out.

I am not big on Trimble, but I would add that he is a poised, "heady" player. Seems to see the floor and understand the moment well. Improving his agility will likely earn him minutes.

yes agree but agility to me is a trait that you need to be born with ,hard work can bring it to the surface if you have it to some degree .jmo

We really have no idea whether CM can coach at this point. We'll know after this year now that he has a real roster.

I'm not sure Josh Pastner has ever been accused of being lazy on the recruiting trail, though.

But yeah, he's pretty iffy with in-game coaching/game management decisions.

If he doesn't have an NCAA tournament team I suspect the coach will be asked to resign. I'm torn over this should it happen because coach St. Jean is a great guy but obviously he would have to go.;)

...and the author didn't even mention our possible best all around player, Justin Simon

Coaster, I noticed that too...paid close attention to the language used. Seemed to be an assumption unless they don't know better. The fanbase has been itching so badly for a legitimately great SJ team for decades. Almost every NY team is atrocious (we know the Knicks will be included), so we can really steal the spotlight if we take care of business.
