Yeah, go to a GS playoff game, instead of recruiting at all.
That's a real bang up job Chris, keep it going.
It’s a dead period now, where would you like the Coach to be recruiting ?
Correct RMN, there are enough things to question about the staff's abilities, efforts and qualifications without making new ones up.
You're a funny dude! Abilities, effort and qualifications. Doesn't that basically cover it all?;)
As for RMN, he is correct even with regard to the grad transfer as he has already gotten his blessings.
Like it or not, Chris is going to be commuting east to west very often but this is the last year he actually needs to and the move he makes next Spring will tell us a lot about his future intentions. Some in his family would love to see him move back to the east coast permanently. Let's see if the second time is a charm.;)
Has a Grad Big unofficially given us a 'verbal commitment'?

Are we sure Calipari goes to his players graduations? Wait... They don't graduate
Right he goes to the NBA draft where he congratulates them on being first round draft picks and on becoming instant multi-millionaires.
And makes sure every camera captures every minute of it.
Does dead period apply to grad transfers?
Yes and it expires on Friday and then becomes the Quiet Period. Look for some potential grad stuff to happen after Memorial Day.

No. The targets Matt is closing in on have Mullin’s rubber stamp.

Two issues of importance to fans were need to add a big and see a coaching change. When Owens left it added some angst to the equation in my opinion.

Still time to address both.

Dead Period: the years from 2003 to 2018 for the St. John's basketball program

Good one Federico!:p
The program did hit a high note in Steve Lavin's first year.
In the 2010–11 season, St. John's won 21 games and went 12–6 in conference games. The previous season the same players went 6-12 in conference games. To top it off Lavin and St, John's signed the #3 recruiting class in the country. They also spent a couple of weeks nationally ranked. That was only 7 years ago but seems longer.

Great post. That first Lavin year (my last in NY/NJ area) was a great year for SJU basketball; brought us back from the ashes, if only briefly.

Yeah I know, but I just couldn't bring myself to acknowledge that publicly. "It's a Lavin thing, it's a terrible thing....".

We were actually nationally ranked 15th as recently as 2015. It just didn't last long. That's when we had a strong OOC performance including a win over Canad...I mean Cuse. I hope we take advantage of a pretty weak OOC (only game we are clearly overmatched in is Duke) with only 1 or 2 losses and finish .500 or better in conference. Of all years, this is the year to do it with everyone down except Nova. If we can't get at least .500 in conference assuming Ponds returns and especially if we add another big man late, then something's beyond rotten in Denmark.

Thanks for posting this. Legit question... do appearances like this, being high profile at the NBA playoffs, help recruiting? I think it might, especially if they get some air time on ESPN/ABC.
Who knows, perhaps. Having winning season for dormant program is my preferred tonic.

What if the kids notice that the Warriors didn't put Mullin and Richmond in the first row?

Mitch will be on 95.7 the Game today. I think they said 1:30 PST, but I'll update the time if I find out for anyone interested in listening. I assume it will be Warrior stuff, but maybe they ask about his day job.

#seniorsaregood, see 14/15 with same record, same tourney results (though no top marquee wins) despite the fact that by many accounts the program was apparently falling apart.

PS if there's one thing Mike Dunlap wasn't/isn't it's an effective recruiter.
