Unfortunate but necessary. Hopefully there’s no acrimony so he can still be around the program and hold his place among our greats. Probably too much to ask.
He wasn't around since he graduated until he got paid 2 million per to be around and then still he was hardly around so don't get your hopes up.

This is going to ruffle the feathers of some of the older alums, but it’s time for the next generation of alums to take the reigns so it seems.

I think most if not all agree it was time to move on. Chris Mullin will still remain as perhaps the programs alltime greatest player.
Good luck to him.

I much prefer remembering Mullin as my favorite player than coach....

I can easily put these few years behind me.
Okay someone put up the betting lines on who will be the next coach!
I think I speak for everyone when I say that Mitch Richmond is the guy we all want to lead us into the future on a lifetime contract.
The goal boys and girls is to build a championship program that competes with Nova in a consistent basis. Period. Not to claim that 8-10 at the end of 4 years is progress.

Sorry but that pissed me off to no end...
It annoyed me as well. All I saw was 9-13, and losing games by nearly 16 points per outing in the last two months of the season.

Mitch returning?
Holy crap.. You almost made me choke on my dinner.. brilliant
You should know not to check this Board while eating. It could be hazardous to your health.

Someone earlier wrote about a Cragg vs Mullin showdown...

Someone.....lol

Could not exist with both someone had to go....

Cragg didnt come on board to be figure head. He is here to build a world class athletic department. And it starts with the signature sports program men's basketball...
Please let this whole thing be true. If so, thank you Mr. Cragg. Fingers crossed here...
I was concerned to, but a very reliable source told me it's true. Big,big day for the program.

Best SJU player ever. The way he wanted to run the program like a GM and manage who did the recruiting and who did the X's and O's just doesn't work in college. You need to dedicate 50 weeks a year to this job. I wish him all the best. Spend time with the family. You'll still be remembered as the best ever. The last 4 years doesn't change that fact. Good luck and God bless you and your family Chris.

Mullin failed to assess his deficiencies and needs right from the outset. He needed a Whitesell but brought in St. Jean and Richmond. And failed to correct it even after the mistake was apparent.

Not sure if Hurley is great but if given this years STJ roster in a down conference year I think he pulls off 12 conf wins and maybe takes one in the tourney. Don't think hes a steady top 10 coach but I think he'll have them frequently inside the top-25 and on the right side of the bubble most seasons.
Too bad we waited until Oates, Hoiberg and Musselman were off the board.

I'm more relieved than happy honestly. Mullin is a legend as a player and I appreciate him giving it a shot here, but it was either a hobby for him or he didn't know what he was doing. That's OK you just have to know when to say when if you can't cut it. And he did. Wonder what was negotiated. I will always respect Mullin as a person and as a SJ legend...this isn't fake it's real. It's a shame it didn't work out, but this was the best for all parties. Let Mullin go back to his family and enjoy some downtime.

That being said, I wonder who else is on radar other than Hurley. Wow.

Bobby Hurley would be a game changer for us. He’s a details-guy and unlike most of our prior coaches. Will recruit extremely well here and we will be prepared for games. Hope those rumors come true. We’d be in good shape. In Cragg we trust..

I said Mullin was gone! Pitino is the target! Hurley the distraction! Tenn and STJ will fight for Pitino. The leak now about Mullin has everything to do with Barnes/UCLA talk

Flip the order, and I'm fine. :)

Thank you Mullin for stepping down. Going out on top.

Really hoping we get Hurley.

Hiring a new coach will bring all posters together and bury many hatchets.

(for 20minutes) :)
