(MSG Holiday Festival) Iona, Sun. Dec. 17, 4:30p, FS1 970 AM

Ponds is just really struggling to get the ball in the basket. The defense has been very good with a few lapses. Perimeter D the best yet under Mullin. Last couple of minutes Defense got sloppy and Simon with two senseless fouls now has 3.

The first half was just not fun to watch. Ponds does not look like the same player. Maybe his confidence is shot. The 3rd foul by Simon was senseless.

We are getting outrebounded 25-16 by a small Iona team - no excuse for that. Key third foul on Simon set up by breakaway when Ponds went behind his back and lost the ball.

Time for Mullin to inspire his team at the half.

Team is very offensively challenged with LoVett out and Ponds looking like he is either auditioning for the Globetrotters or wants to be anywhere but in an SJU uniform. I know his stats are there but he has not played well this year. Has had spurts but no consistency and he just looks disinterested too often for me. Reminds me a little of Jakaar Sampson, seems to be playing with one foot out the door at times.

This team is missing Lovett. When Ponds was on the bench and Simon and Trimble were running things there was nothing. With Ponds in this epic shooting slump this offense really struggles. To his credit Ponds looks to pass but still taking some early shots. To his credit also, Bashir hasn't been forcing. Overall one of his most in control halves I've seen from him.

For all the complaining Chris does, he has to at least make a case for a flagrant their. Guy pushed Shamorie in the back whole he was airborne. Dangerous play on our best player.

Trimble got to be one of the slowest guys on the team. He's got to shake loose and shoot some 3s.

Again pushing in the back while airbourne, against our best player. We should be making a big deal. I am at the game, so don't know what is being said on tv. Bottom line, that's bush league and Chris should be throwing a fit.

Iona in bonus with 13 minutes left and we only have 1 team foul! Simon has done great job of avoiding committing a 4th foul.

Interesting comment. Clearly, Ponds is one of our better players but, at times, he plays out-of-control.Your 'Globetrotter' remark funny--but not far from the mark!

on tv, they mentioned both in the back fouls.

however the second one was not hard...and more a reach onto Ponds back than not,
trimble and Ponds have to hit a couple of 3s to get their confidence back in that shot.
