(MSG) Duke, Sat. Feb. 3, Noon, FOX/570AM

Absolutely walking on air...

Great win. Glad to see the kids rewarded for their hard work.

I wish I could have been part of the chaos at MSG and hope you all enjoyed!

Sitting this one out after hurting my back at the Xavier game. Hope the team shows its best on national television.
Guess it was the charge you took in the last game against Kerem Kanter of Xavier. Huge win today in front of some prospective recruits who hopefully were impressed enough to give us serious consideration.

Oh baby! This one will go down as one of the sweetest wins in my years of being a fan. To have to listen to the crap from my Dukie sister, “we don’t respect you. We didn’t even bring our cheerleaders, band or mascot”. “Your team must be pathetic “. Followed by the Let’s Go Duke chants all around me.
Thank you team and staff. This grad (‘85 SVC) can finally stick his chest out! Oh...and deliver some trash talk!

If I have one negative, Mullin has to get these guys to foul when they’re up by 3 with less than 10 seconds left. We really dodged a bullet letting them get a clean look at the end.

Fortunately I was wrong with my "no way Jose" prediction.

Will need to visit my cardiologist on Monday. Haven't screamed this much all season

Defense held high scoring Duke in the 70's. BTW, Mullin had Trimble guarding Allen

As many reporters have commented recently - we are the best winless B.E. team in the nation

Got to give credit to Mullin setting up our pick and rolls

Coach K knew better then to take us for granted. Just look at our past games against the Dukies

Ponds is the man! Ahmed and Owens played super.

Congratulations guys

Paultz isn't going to like this comment - Big East teams should not want to play us in the tournament

Great Win, happy for the kids.

Been harsh on coaches' but credit to them for keeping them upbeat and with a good game plan today to attach their bigs.

With the roster improvement looming SJU should play at least one and probably two every year. If necessary can the Holiday Festival which has become meaningless
It's games like this that can make a program in recruiting, press and hopefully fan support.

The way they were offensively rebounding today I think it was a good idea.

When my son goes to school Monday his classmates, who are either UNC or Duke fans, won't be able to say who the heck is St. John's.....no negatives tonight, wonderful day for Looie, Chris, the team and the long suffering fans!

Finally able to sign onto the site. Paul, tell the guy running your site to use a high octane server and not regular leaded.;)

While I am happy for all the kids and the coaches, I am especially happy for Shamorie Ponds! This game was classic Slick! Of course credit to Bashir Ahmed for his best game of the year and kudos to Simon for solid defense but this game was a Shamorie Ponds highlight reel.
I would have been happy with a loss under 10 points but this made my season!! That Mullin won this one against the greatest coach of his generation is a bonus.
There were a lot of stunned Duke fans at the Garden today and I'm sure some of the recruits expected us to lose big so this time lady luck was on our side and all of NYC is talking about St. John's big win.
If they were to beat #1 Villanova I think this would be the most successful losing season in St. John's basketball history.

Great win!!! Specifically with all the potential recruits that were in attendance. To have them see a St. John’s win in front of a packed MSG is huge. Hopefully, they can picture themselves in that atmosphere in future.

More successful than the 1907-08 team that finished 4-8?

Just got back from the game after dinner and my voice is still shot! I a man so proud of our guys and coaches today. What made this win especially sweet was doing it in front of all the Dookies at MSG. In all the years I’ve been a season ticket holder today was the first time after a game I hugged and high fived strangers all around me. I hope the guys build on this and now take it to Nova this week.

We are St. John’s!

I was at the Garden for this and it reminds me why I love going to these games. This team has a ton of heart. It is easy to care about a team when it is obvious to me that the team is giving its all. Despite the losing streak I have seen some great basketball this season and really like this group of players. Ponds is special and led us today but it was definitely a team effort. There was a lot of fight for fifty fifty balls, guys diving on the floor for loose balls, players following their shots (that one is new), fierce defense and guys crashing the boards. The heart is a resilient organ but I am very glad the team did not have to experience another heartbreaking loss against a top tier ranked opponent.

The atmosphere in the Garden was electric. There was a huge Duke contigent in the packed arena, but the SJU fans were very vocal too.

I hope now that the team can break through and get some conference wins.

Of course the lunatic in me wants us to play Villanova to the wire and then go on and sweep Marquette, beat Seton Hall, pay back Butler, Depaul and Providence and win a couple in the Big East tournament so that we can get invited to the NIT and then win that. I know that is crazy talk and isn't happening but that is what one wild win can do. It can make you dream about better days.

If the country did not know who Shamorie Ponds was, they do now. The perks of beating a top Duke team is nationwide attention. Glad the guys get to experience that. It should be a morale booster. Congrats to everyone involved.

Shhhhhhh!

If they only have one win left in them this year, I would like it to be against Duke. Won't help us with this wretched season but it will help the Big East conference.

If BC could beat Duke, there's hope.

Sometimes hope builds dreams, and sometimes dreams come true.

This feels just about as big a win could possibly feel under these circumstances.
