Great win , enjoyed the crowd I had a few SJU fans close. Some douche DUKE fan asked me after the game 'what is your record now'? I replied 1-0 vs Duke.

 
Just an incredible effort. Kids rewarded for their hard work and effort. Just wow.

I appreciate all of the insights on this board today
1.I personally believed the chances of winning today were unlikely
2.I thought the chance to keep the game to a single digit loss was
possible
3.AND I assumed a loss by a big margin was probable

No matter what transpires the rest of the year, this was sweet and the kids deserved the W!
IMO this could become the turning point for the program
I hope the HS recruits in attendance were moved
Our kids have played hard despite being short handed and facing more talented teams most of the season!

Great W . We are much better than our record. Ponds was amazing. Owens is developing a nice inside game and Bash is better than given credit for. Team effort. What Simon lacked offensively today, he made up on defense and assists. Hopefully this W will give kids confidence to have a good Feb. Happy for the kids and happy for Mullin.
 
Fantastic game. Will give grief to the guys in my section who either sold directly to Duke fans or the Duke
Fans got them from stub hub (the guy and his wife who were in front of me were from South Dakota, very nice and cool couple even though they were routing for the wrong team)

Team got it done down the stretch. Ponds had as Bill Rafferty would say “onions”. Bashir and Simon held Allen in check (a little box and one action on him at the beginning). It was evident that the game plan was to let the frosh beat us. I never felt or saw the guys panic and rush or make foolish plays when Duke went on a run especially when the went on the run that some them take the lead after we were up 11. Crowd was fantastic and Stout packed afterwards.

 
This was the Bashir Ahmed we were expecting to have from Day 1.

Agree, thought it was his best game as a Johnnie and it couldn't have come at a better time. They used to say it wasn't until their second season that a juco would adjust to D1 which might be the case with Ahmed as he has improved over last season.
 
St. John’s out worked duke in the second half. We had no second chance points in the first half and got almost every loose ball in the second half. That is coaching.
 
For all the talk about joining the MAAC, I have a better idea. Join the ACC.
 
In so many of the 11 loses, no one else but Ponds stepped up. Yes, the guy is Batman. But even Batman reeds his Robin by his side, and Alfred back at the Bat Cave taking care of business. Today Bashir was Robin and Tariq was Alfred. Well done team. Happy for you. Let’s show Nova we came to play.
