(MSG) Duke, Sat. Feb. 3, Noon, FOX/570AM

I read that the Christ the King team attended the game
Anyone able to share specifics on players who we are recruiting?
Obviously a great game to sell our program?
Thanks :D

Hey gang, it is wonderful that for at least a day, we could all be proud of being SJU fans.

But by now, everyone noticed how hard it was to get into the site yesterday. There was a server overload.

What no one knows, (and I will reveal) is that Mullin and Paul made an agreement to hold off on making the NCAA tourney until next year,. This was done so redmen.com can complete its upgrade and consequently handle the sheer volume of people at once.

This Duke win was a dry run. A fire drill, if you will. Paul is almost there. And because of that, Paul wants to assure all of you, to be patient with the staff because next season will be a blast.

We are...

I really feel like the most important part about this win is the ripple effect it could have for years to come in terms of recruiting. Despite our rough season, it showed Brooks and the legions of high level recruits in the house on national television what this program is capable of in the years to come, despite being undermanned this year.

(from the Girard post)NYPost article today February 4, 2018 by Zach Braziller
Gerard now all time NYS HS scorer

NOTE:
ST. Johns at his game this past Friday + says these players at Duke game:
Cockburn junior, Cisse freshman, Antoine and Lewis juniors from NJ Ranney,
Sophomores Key, Grant, Tabor and others
:D

You could build the Taj Mahal of basketball arenas on campus and you couldn't come close to matching the excitement of playing and competing in a game vs a top nationally ranked team at MSG.

Great win , enjoyed the crowd I had a few SJU fans close. Some douche DUKE fan asked me after the game 'what is your record now'? I replied 1-0 vs Duke.
They are like petulant children.
Quality response.

On lessons learned, critical one hopefully learned yesterday was what it takes to close a game out - especially after giving up a lead late.

Also, don't know if this will be a lesson learned, but Ahmed played one of his best games because he played within the flow of the game. Not sure if it had anything to do with fact that he was committed to and preoccupied with playing Allen and then their big guys tough.

As for lessons that seem to have been learned, Tariq has learned how to stay on floor. Kid is a smart player and gives 150% all the time. May not always show the results but he is all in all the time. Hopefully, Clark learns this lesson.

We had 14 more field goal attempts, 65 vs. 51.

Some Xavier fan in my community feels the teams play to their level of competition. I told him to ask Coach Mack if he would like to meet us in the B.E. Tournament.

Interesting move by Mullin in the beginning of the game having Ahmed play a box in one against Allen while the rest of the team went zone. Trent put an end to the zone. Thompson senior did the same against Mullin at MSG.

Me too, site must have been down. But what a great unexpected win .I almost feel myself growing young again.

Great win.
Back to practice tomorrow, gotta get our first B.E. win.
Not happening at Nova who just killed SHU by 16, but maybe Saturday vs. Marquette.

The thing about beating Duke is that when it happens, your great aunt in Peoria knows about it.
Could not be happier for the kids.

PS: glad the site is up, could not access yesterday.

If the country did not know who Shamorie Ponds was, they do now. The perks of beating a top Duke team is nationwide attention. Glad the guys get to experience that. It should be a morale booster. Congrats to everyone involved.

I don't know if anyone feels the way I do. It was hard for me to believe that Duke did not know Ponds was going to drive to the basket. What other shooters did they have to worry about? Ponds was able to drive around Duke's defense I was shocked and pleased they didn't triple team him.

Server overload? Whoever Paul turned the site over to should be fired! All his banner ads are slowing down the show not the 50 retirees trying to post our wisdom ;)

Nah, we should move to the MAAC and play those big games in Jersey City in St. Peters arena.

I heard the Fox announcers say we have the 5th toughest strength of schedule. Did anyone else hear that?
