Mike Rice Hot Water

Interesting thought.

Coach throws balls and uses slurs at players on tape. AD suspends him with President's blessing. Pres does or doesn't see the tape supposedly. Both AD and Pres might take the fall.

Across the river a President and Chief of Staff are involved in morally and ethically wrong practices and nothing

Food for thought.

I may question whether some contributors on either board know if the ball is pumped or stuffed, but I can't think of anyone who doesn't believe DH has tarnished our University, and should have been relieved many moons ago.

pumped or stuffed?

The shorthand equivalent of Maven's fave, which I've used on occasion, some guys don't know if the ball has air or feathers in it. I.E. pumped or stuffed.

Again, it's Incredible that Barchi didn't watch the video of his highest profile employee when it was brought to his attention in November.

Too busy counting the B1G's greenbacks.

Again though, we have to look in the mirror. SJU employees were basically stealing money and charging it to the school.

Yep and Yep

And I think this will prob be the last press conf Barchi has as the Pres of the state University.

As for our guy. He walks on water for now

Well, if they crucify our guy, the guards won't have to roll dice for his garments - there are plenty of nice suits to go around. :)

FH has had a far too long tenure as President of St John's and it's amazing he's lasted this long given his record.

He turned a decent University academically into a below average one and has overseen the decline of its' jewel, the Law School into a 2nd or 3rd tier program.

St John's was the largest Catholic University under Father Cahill, with very good grades for the Pharmacy School, Law School and College of Business Administration.. It wasn't NYU or Fordham but, wasn't being mentioned in the same category as Community Colleges or Open Admission Schools of the Cuny System.

Frankly, we saw first hand how good a leader he was in also interjecting himself into the Fraschilla firing, Jarvis Hiring/firing and Roberts Hiring/Firing.

Everything he oversees turns to C--P.

While he should be fired for multiple offenses, from a business perspective, he did a tremendous job expanding the campus, added a baseball stadium, soccer/lacross stadium, multi-level parking lot, underclass dorms, senior dorms, new chapel, renovated CA, student athletic/practice courts at Tafner, and more. He raised tons of money, and in addition to building the campus, acquiring the LaSalle campus and building Staten Island into a 4 year school of its own, added campuses in NYC, Rome, and Paris. Currently the school has $400 million in the bank as well.

All of these accomplishments cloud the Vincentians and BOT eyes because they are ignoring that he took cash payments, made improper loans, promoted a subordinate with no credentials, took vacations on the university dime, and allowed Cecilia Chang to operate with no oversight and no auditing for his entire tenure. In no small way, he is culpable for her death, because had she not stolen for so long, she simply would have been fired and not face a jail sentence.

And those funds came in as a result of Chang's "negotiating" with well paid donors from across the globe. And paid by countless students and their families forking over exorbitant amounts of tuition expenses.

That's like complimenting a thief on having such a well-manicured lawn.

I am a graduate of SJU, ('94-'98) and have to agree that FH should step down. Admittedly, I don't have close ties to the University anymore, as I've lived in NJ for over 10 years, but SJU is sill Alma Mater after all. When someone is in charge for as long as FH has been, human nature dictates that people will get very comfy. You lose perspective, and frankly, get used to having your butt kissed. While I do appreciate the changes he has brought to the school, getting away from being an all commuter school, to more of a nationwide school, the fact remains that academics IMO have suffered. There really should be a concerted effort to tighten up the entrance standards, and raise our academic profile.

You know, if this was Goldman Sachs, or CitiCorp, or another big borkerage house, or some sleezy politicians (some? sleezy and politician is redundant), I'd at least say I'd have expected it. The fact that we have a priest who not only sees himself as a CEO, but wants all the perks of being one. It's actually disgusting.

Beast,
If you or anyone else would like to have a factual discussion regarding Harrington's performance as President of St.John's includig the increase of St.John's endowment during his 24 years a President then I invite you to present facts on the companion site Players Lounge.
Thanks.

What a mess RU is! As part of his settlement, former AD Tim Pernetti gets $1.2 million dollars in salary (base of $453,000 through June 2014 plus one-time payment of $679,500 in the next month and he gets to keep all that even if he gets another job!), his Rutgers issued iPad and laptop, car allowance of $12,000 through June 2014 and two years of health insurance coverage.

Wow! The FBI ought to be investigating this guy for extortion!

talk about a golden parachute. Most people I know when you are fired you just go home, with nothing.
Maybe they get a hug from their wife.
