Mike - great family pics, beautiful family. But next time let's get all those kids in Johnny gear for the pics!

This may be a view from 30,000 feet, but it sure seems like Iron Mike is the real deal, the complete package, a legitimate, knowledgeable & winning coach and a great family guy.
Best of luck to him, his family, and to St. John's.

How were you able to recognize him? ;) :)

Ah, it’s an old pejorative Wall Street term to question a guy’s knowledge or skills. Lol.
Thought I’d parlay it , aided by telescopes, to comment on Iron Mike!
Gotta laugh.

Thank you , a great read.
Not only is CMA a very good coach but he is a really classy individual. He seems to have a great moral compass and always says the right thing.
I am so glad that he is our coach.

The upcoming 2019- 2020 season will exceed the expectations of St.John’s fans because of the cultures of focus, hard work, togetherness, and winning which Coach Mike Anderson will instill.

Otis I love and appreciate your enthusiasm but until we sign another pg I don’t see us playing 500 ball next season. Are we in much better shape than a few weeks ago , you bet. But remember we lost , Ponds C’ark, Simon, Trimble,Keita and both juco recruits. That is a lot to make up and I strongly believe we need another pg if we are to be competitive.

Agree RMN that another PG is the obvious and gaping need.
Thinking the Staff is pursuing Thornton and got to believe they have other options in mind.p as well.
It is late in the cycle, but we shall see.

I wouldn’t put stock with Thornton. All signs seem to be him going to Gonzaga. Would even be surprised to see him take this SJU trip.

Thornton would be the perfect piece this late: a pure experienced PG with upside, to be spelled by herky-jerky McGriff.
I hope you’re wrong, but you’re probably right.
We may know by the end of next weekend.

I believe anybody who thinks MA will not turn over every stone, do everything in his power, and eventually succeed in making sure there is a .500+ record next season at SJU doesn't yet fully get Iron Mike! For the first time in decades I believe SJU has a coach who can overcome what's seemingly inevitable and accomplish what appears impossible.

Are you 'family' REB?
Just joking man.
I agree!
Maybe Iron Mike is in 'the lab' working on a PG 'experiment'?!?
Lol.

Aubie .... Please understand that in my post above I spoke of exceeding expectations, not predicting March dancing.

With the loss of Messrs.Ponds Clark, Simon, Trimble, Keita and both juco recruits expectations among St. John's loyalists are justifiably low but I sincerely believe that Coach Anderson's nurturing inclusive culture, and end to end style of play will provide the St. John's fans more to cheer for than the teams win- loss records. Most of all St. John's will understand that the school has a coach that is working his butt off which is something St. John's seemingly has not had for many years.

So yeah, I believe that next March the St. John's mens basketball team will have exceeded the low expectations its fans now have.
Can’t do over the past but I am optimistic about the long term success StJohn’s will enjoy under workhorse Coach Mike Anderson and his hard working staff.
I wonder how MA will handle the increases in state income tax in NYS vs. Arkansas. Arkansas top tier tax rate is 6.9% in a progressive tax. NYS is almost 8.8%. I wonder if MA will establish residency here (more than 180 days per year) and pay the higher tax rate (around $55,000-$60,000 per year additional) or will he be running back and forth to Arkansas to avoid the higher tax rate.

Although the efforts were questioned, Both Lavin and Mullin came from a state with a state income tax rate even higher than NY.

No doubt MA appears to be a hard working guy, but at his income level, state tax considerations exert a heavy toll.

Because tax revenuers are monitoring his every move. What lengths you won't go to defend your boy.

Adam Schein killed St John's for the Chris Mullin hire on his show today. He said that St John's was chasing a legacy to placate the fan base when Mullin was hired and that he was not prepared for or wanted to do the job. He extolled the praises of Juwan Howard to Michigan hire based on the fact that Howard paid his dues as a highly respected NBA assistant coach for several years who was being considered for interviews for an NBA head coaching job.

Hard to argue with what Schein said. Mullin was never fully vested in performing all of the responsibilities involved in being a college head coach. Making the change to CMA seems like a step in the right direction for the future of our program.
Chris lobbied hard for the job too. It would have taken some cajones 4 years ago for someone in the SJU administration to say No to a legend but in retrospect that is what they should have done and gone after Danny. But it is all water under the bridge now.
If we had hired Danny, he'd still be at UCONN today.
"We" would not have hired anyone and no he wouldn't have been.
