Mike Anderson - Recruiting, Coaching, Etc.

Hearing that Coordinator of Basketball Operations Ron Brown was released from his position by Anderson. Can anyone confirm this? Too bad if true, great person and hard worker for SJU.

I would like to report that in the past fiscal year I found 2 dollars floating by me in the sewer. (Hope Kranmars reads this).

Met and talked with him and his wife a few times in 2019/20 season and always enjoyed the chats.  If true, I agree with you as it would be a loss.

That was the rumor late last week, so suspect it is true.

Ron Brown sounds like he was overqualified for the gig, but hopefully isn't out of work too long. Do we know approximately how old he is?

·       Web Release QUEENS, N.Y. (July 1, 2021) – Before beginning his collegiate career with the Red Storm in the fall, St. John’s freshman Rafael Pinzon will compete on the international stage this summer with the Puerto Rican national team when it travels to Latvia for the U19 World Cup. Pinzon, who starred at Long Island Lutheran High School alongside St. John’s teammate Drissa Traore, will headline Puerto Rico’s 12-man roster for the event beginning on July 3.

 “We’re thrilled that Rafael was selected to represent Puerto Rico in the U19 World Cup,” said St. John’s Head Coach Mike Anderson.  “In addition to providing an unforgettable experience, international basketball helps to expand a player’s skillset and knowledge of the game. We’ll be watching and cheering for him here in Queens.”

Any news on the Demeo vacancy? I miss a press release?
No and no.  They did finally take his name and bio off the website although Ron Brown’s is still there although it was also reported he was no longer on the staff.

After all the whining and complaining for the last several months, I feel compelled to emphasize the fact that Mike Anderson has done a heck of a job navigating the new NCAA rules and the other minefields the program has run into. Can we all agree to see what happens this year before staring the nonsense again?

Thanks Coach.

I was thinking of the sky is falling folks the past few days.  I should take better count next time of who's who.

Mark Jackson on CMA;

On Mike Anderson-“He’s done a very, very good job from Day 1, and he’s a guy that’s done an outstanding job every year he’s coached. He’s a class guy that makes you proud to say you went to St. John’s and played for.”

I am posting the full NY Post interview with Mark Jackson because I think it's well done, covers many topics of interest and is very insightful. The fact that Mark is one of my all time favorite Johnnies doesn't hurt either.
