Mike Anderson - Recruiting, Coaching, Etc.

Actually for a team picked to finish ninth in the big east and then finish around five hundred is more than a nice accomplishment.

Yes it is and I am glad .however ,if we lost we would have probably ended up in 9 th or 10 th right about where we started.
glad we won

After nearly 2 decades of watching mostly bad basketball, what a joy it has been to watch these last 2 seasons. Honestly, I've had more thrills in the last 2 years then in the previous 18 years combined.  Thank you CMA, and the kids, for making it happen and for restoring my faith in St. John's basketball,

The coach and the type of play is what I have hope for for years.
Quality coach that holds players accountable, and doesn't beat them over the head.
He's our version of Ted Lasso.

Who's more thrills CMA ot the girl in the back of your car during son of sam years ?

Early on in the season I criticized the coaching staff over recruiting, but with this coach I am gonna shut up and enjoy.  I didn't expect this season to turn out the way it has. It has given me faith in the direction of this program. Hey I am not use to this and all of you are not either.

Mike knows way to much about my sordid past, and tends to let just a little info slip when he has a few pale ales in him lol

Conventional wisdom always maintains that in college basketball the 2 important elements of coaching are recruiting and X's and O's strategy.

Then last night we saw Dunn not playing like the B list side of a 45 record with Posh's star on the A side,  but a star in his own right.

We saw McGriff play like an upper class starter , not like a freshman who was buried on the bench all season

We saw Earlington drain two HUGE threes late,  plus grab a gigantic rebound down the stretch, playing like a star and not a guy who early on looked like he couldn't be counted on to produce for a winning team.

And the loudest quiet player and leader we ever had continued his ascent as perhaps the best player in the Big East.

All without Posh.

Of course there are others - moore, WIlliams,. Wusu, Roberts  Cole etc

CMA got our Storm thru a storm, by encouraging and coaching these kids to be the best version of themselves.  It goes far beyond X's and O's.

They should have tanked after a 1-5 start, after a devastating loss to DePaul, after Posh's injury.   They didn't.  Credit CMA.

Coach of the Year.  Hands down

Just an observation from the past 2 seasons.  I have all the respect in the world for MA.  I dont think he is in this for the glory or the headlines or as a steaping stone to bigger things.  I think he is in this make boys become men and build character.  Both years you can see the development and the maturity grow amoung the team They do not let challenges or bad times crush them but bounce back untied.  It has been a pleasure to watch the growth and it bodes well for the years to come.  I would be proud to send my son to a MA coached team,  Whatever happens the rest of the year whather NCAA or NIT WE ARE!!!!!!! Go Redstorm (Formally known as the readmen sorry I am not PC)

Make no mistake, CMA and MC are competitive as hell and both want to win a championship at St. Johns.

Agree with everything else Mr. Sliva!

Less than two months ago SJU was one and five in the big east and I thought they were heading for a three or four big east win total ,  facing a next season of whether coach survives and putting the SJU ticket office with a almost impossible job of selling next years season tickets.
I couldn't have been further out of whack and the outlook for next season has turned one hundred eighty degrees with the teams improvement and with the president, AD and coach firmly behind the program the future hasn't been this bright for quite some time win or lose today.
