Not sure whether it's been said already, but a win like last night is critical for recruiting. Create a buzz and continue to show growth and improvement on the court and recruiting should pickup exponentially.
I noticed that too. I thought it was a poignant moment in their relationship. Good stuff.redmen4life" post=417018 said:i've noticed it throughout the season, but there was a specific moment yesterday that stood out to me.Paultzman" post=417006 said:Kids have responded and respect, like Mike. Champ had gotten fouled pretty hard, looked like he was undercut. i think it was on a rebound attempt.
he was pretty upset.
he was being subbed out at the point and he was clearly upset, complaining as he approached Coach.
coach pulled down his mask and immediately started, i wouldn't say yelling at Champ, but certainly commanding authority. what i loved though, was Champ immediately recognized the situation, put his arm around coach and listened.
to me, that was symbolic of coach's authority. someone that commands respect. and the team admires.
And he also stayed on the bench waaaaaaaaaaaay longer then he normally does. At one point I thought maybe he got hurt on that fall. Maybe a little punishment for getting mouthy w/ coach.redmen4life" post=417018 said:i've noticed it throughout the season, but there was a specific moment yesterday that stood out to me.Paultzman" post=417006 said:Kids have responded and respect, like Mike. Anthony Mattia" post=417045 said:Something I saw last night that hasn't been mentioned, when Moore picked up his 4th foul he turned and looked towards the bench and pointed to his head as if to say I have to think and I get what I just did wrong. CMA left him in, I think because he saw that Moore got it, and he played the rest of the game. This is a kid that was just benched for a game for not meeting team standards. Looks like the message got through and he is all in with the team. Great to see that.
Anderson has handled both Moore and Cole masterfully. He kept faith in them with some bumps, but got buy in re them being essential pieces, not stars here . To their credit they seem on board, many Jucos with big egos after starring at lower level of play sulk and never get it. Coaching!

Moore is long and automatic when crashing the offensive glass. Cole becoming automatic from the outside. Both playing solid defense now. We need em both.
Sad, this thread was created by our friend Mike Zaun (who if you click on his name is no longer a member here), too bad he's not around to celebrate with us, would be interesting to hear his current perspectives.SJUFAN2" post=417079 said:Folks, the thread isn't being closed. *** Also, for those of you that STILL haven't figured out how to use the new quote function... its time to 'phone friend', or PM a mod so they can explain it to you, or just stop quoting people. When your comments are burried in the post you quoted you make that part of the conversation unreadable.
So then maybe the mod's post should have been removed, not the responses to it /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.pngSJUFAN2" post=417079 said:Folks, the thread isn't being closed. I understand that a mod created this issue with a joke, but relax. Its not going anywhere.

I thought the same thing too. CMA has gotten through to the likes of Moore and Cole even when they were not playing well or did not meet his standards. His style of coaching seems to be working well with this team.Anthony Mattia" post=417045 said:Something I saw last night that hasn't been mentioned, when Moore picked up his 4th foul he turned and looked towards the bench and pointed to his head as if to say I have to think and I get what I just did wrong. Maybe we should have faith in a coach that has never had a loosing record in 19 seasons. A coach that has had to recruit against some of the biggest sharks in the business in the SEC. Maybe we should give him and his experienced staff a little more credit than we do as opposed to having knee jerk reactions when things are not going our way.Monte" post=417146 said:At one point or another earlier this season, pretty much every single kid on this team except Champ was maligned. Some(IE Cole is too slow to play at this level, etc) more than others. Criticism is one thing, but writing kids off so early in the season is a whole other. So happy to see these kids grow as individuals and as a unit. Excited to see them continue to grow.
