Michigan St., Wed. Nov. 23, 7pm, AXS/970AM-B4A

I would like to see Mullin institute the two second rule with Owens, Yawke and Sima. If after having the ball for two seconds they dont have a layup or a dunk they need to pass the ball. This should eliminate shots they cant make.

This year is going to be frustrating in that we are just below being able to win games against good teams. It is a process and we are so close but human nature as a fan is to get frustrated. In addition to being overmatched down low we had some bad luck. I think Mich ST had like 5 shots go in off ridiculous bounces where we had like 5 shots rim out.

Could really use the two transfer kids and Brown. Not sure Yakwe and Sima should play together. Maybe start Owens and have Yakwe as 6th man. Ahmed needs to settle down.

Thought we were going to get killed. I have enjoyed every game so far even if I find myself getting frustrated.

Owens, Yakwe, and Sima combined for 9 boards. Damn those guys are soft.
Owens, Sima and Yakwe 3 of 15 for 11pnts, what do they give us besides the block shots?
All 3 have college experience too, so can't say they're just lea the college game

They have a ton of experience those 3, lets spell it out.
Sima played a good part of his freshman season prior to getting hurt.
Yakwe played a good part of his freshman season after the NCAA permitted him to play.
Owens barely played as a freshman at Tennessee.
Oh yah this trio have a ton of college experience and should have completely dominated Bridges who may be the first pick in the draft in 2017 and Ward.

I agree the bigs were abysmal tonight, but I am not so worried long term. We will undoubtedly bring in more talented forwards, but Yakwe, Sima and Owens will get better.

I expect Yawke will improve a lot through out this year.

Sima is going to take a while. I anticipate he will develop a nice baby hook (ala Ochefu).

Owens needs to stay out of foul trouble. He can be a rebounder.

On a positive note, unlike last year, we do not throw the ball away. That is much improved.

Great college player. Where is he playing in the pros? Undersized 4 can't play three in NBA. No knock on him especially at this level, just don't see it translating. As a great pro just so we are clear.

yakwe wanted to sit a year anyway to learn the game better. If I'm not mistaken, he had less than 2 years of competitive basketball before St John's. Under different circumstances he probably would have but since we were left with literally NOTHING by Lavin, we needed him even coming in late. I love what he gave us last season in a desperate effort but he is still 75% potential and has a lot of work to do.

Big play in game was when he didn't go out on Bridges shooting that three.

I think Owens is the best of the three big men at this point. The problem is he cant stay on the court.

I am overall pleasantly surprised by Owens. When he plays a little more disciplined he is a solid player and should get better with age and a lot of pasta. great point about turnovers. 6 turnovers against a good defensive team. night and day vs last season. progress

Draymond Green would beg to differ We Are SJU.

Watched the game at a packed bar with no sound, but was there any talk on tv of all the fouls? Seemed like we were getting called for everything. Two push offs on Mussini before makes? ALL our of bigs with at least 2 fouls in the first half...And way too many rushed shots by us, hope we learn from it.

Larry Johnson, Charles Barkley, Adrian Dantley... Yeah you can name 10 of those guys in history of basketball. Again no knock, I am just not sure that his play will translate.

From the I told you so files.... Jones would be our best big. Just saying

I also think that Jones would have been able to body up with guy like Ward.

I did not have an issue with the refs. 2nd Mussini call questionable. First he extended his arm. And you can probably justify calling Ahmed for 7 or 8 fouls a game.
