MICHIGAN (@MSG), Mon., Nov. 13, 6:30p, FS-1

I think Pitino is going to have to re think the depth he thought he had. If he doesn’t tighten up the rotation a bit, there may be more nights like this against opponents who are not as competitive as Michigan .
I think Pitino needs to do an exorcism on something to get rid of the SJU curse. If this coach can’t resurrect the program then no one can.

Just got home from the game. Two takeaways.

1. Michigan fans are obnoxious as hell. Think UConn level (at least those sitting behind me in 119).
2. Not worried moving forward. They needed a dinner served cold. Take care of the ball and they will be fine in the long run.
Michigan fans are peak entitlement. It’s basically the Yale of sports entitlement (Ohio State would be the Harvard IMO).

The funniest thing about Michigan (and I know I’m gonna sound bitter cause we just lost to them) is the way they’re all acting like victims over this Harbaugh thing. Give me a break

I take Posh on the court over Jenkins every day of the week and twice on Sunday…and three times on Monday when we play Michigan. It’s not even close either.
Again, completely disagree. And you base that statement in what???? Certainly not his performance last year.

I had to step away before I could look at this thread. I mean what do I call this? Disappointment is fair. I am not upset we lost but it’s the “how” and how easily they disintegrated.

Rick alluded to it in during the exhibition season about Defense and getting people to understand the effort required. Boy was that prescient. The easy uncontested layups was terrible. Hats off to the one Michigan player who lit it up but we never seemed to cover him.

As for individual performers Ledlum needs to calm down. Too many times he forced and didn’t let the game come to him. He is not big enough to challenge bigger players. He needs to be far more selective to be effective.

In summary adversity has come early. They need to stick together and have plenty to work on. We have the right Coach to get it done. Keep the faith. Gonna be a bumpy ride but Rick will figure it out.

On him being literally 10x the defensive player and having twice the handle. He was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year. Jenkins wasn’t even the best guard on a MAAC team and has accomplished nothing in high major basketball.

Posh struggled with Curbelo and a bad coach. The PG is an extension of the coach after all.

I believe that Pitino will get the team to improve and be far more competitive . But with anything , every team has a ceiling and ours is realistically not close to the heights that some posters alluded to especially when it came to pre season rankings.

Positives:
1. Took my 11 year old to his 1st SJU game.
2. Moynihan Food Hall. Liked Burger Joint but many good options.
3. Love my seats for the MSG season tix package section 119.
4. The first 10-15 minutes of the game.

Negatives:
1. Too many to list, but biggest for me was that we had no answer for Dug McDaniel. Dude got into the lane whenever he wanted. Daniss & Wilcher need to do a better job on D or we are toast.

Big time learning experience. On to Charleston!

Everyone wanted RP to put together his team in a week and it took time and we were generally happy with the roster. The same holds true for getting them to gel. It will take some time. I don’t know how good they will be but I will trust the process.

Game kind of reminded me of that Maryland game in Norm’s 3rd or 4th year. Thought we had a decent team finally. Went to Kean’s before game, by time got to my seat Maryland was winning 47-2 or something like that.

I'm sure there are a lot of fans and posters that are feeling like all is lost already. The way to avoid that feeling is to understand that while CP is a worthy hall of famer, he cannot waive a magic wand and be expected to rebuild a failing program in game 2 of his first season. Yet many here believed that Coach Pitino's mere presence would end more than 20 years of suffering instanty. We are St. John's fans, and suffering is our middle name. It won't be the constant it has been for years, but endure it we must for a little while longer.

I guess you didn’t watch the many games where Posh lost the ball of his leg etc. without a defender within 10 feet of him. If you want to argue Posh’s superior defensive presence that’s one thing but to an argue he has a better handle is just silly.
