Mets 2024 Season

To me, if you were taking Stanek out you go to Diaz, period end of story, Bhutto if he can’t get 6 outs. I cannot stand this pitch count crap in general but when you are down to an elimination game throw the analytics nonsense out the window, man up and grow a set. But as Mendoza applied his “one man one inning” strategy as Jack Williams said, bringing in Maton was one thing, to leave him in to face Mitchell was completely asinine.
To the pitch count ridiculousness, I would love to see a debate between the the analytics iceholes and Goose Gossage and Nolan Ryan.
Between analytics and NIL and free use transferring, my two favorite sports are pretty much unrecognizable. Unfortunately, my muscle memory and the fact that neither even begin to approach how unbelievably bizarre the “real world” has become means I will undoubtedly remain addicted to both until the end of times, well, at least to the end of my times.

Today the Mets will write a chapter on what kind of team they are. All the great things they accomplished will be enhanced by moving to the next round. If they lose, the season will be relegated to what ifs and almost.

In sports, more than stats, more than great plays or tape measure hits, is about what you do when everything is on the line.

They've risen to the occasion during the season. Let's keep it going! Ya Gotta Believe!

As a manager in the playoffs you have to recognize when your pitcher just doesn’t have it. Maton was throwing batting practice. He has to be out of the game before the lead is completely blown.

Two things…Alonso. And 2-11 with runners in scoring position. The game shouldn’t have even been in reach for the Brewers in the 8th inning.

What is bizarre is that he was the same way Monday.

I hate blaming managers for pitching changes, but Maton was on my “no way” list for late inning work this series. He has no confidence.

Hell, I was halfway thinking maybe let Stanek do the 9th inning after the 8th. And he didn’t even see the 8th!

depends on what Quintana shows up. he had a great September until last Saturday's game against the Brewers. he had won 4 straight going into that game. Need 6 innings from him

Gelbs said during SNY pre-game Butto is likely unavailable unless its a break-the-glass emergency. He does have issues with quick recovery times (he is traditionally a starter), so I'm not surprised to hear it.

I'm feeling fine about today's game. I felt a lot less confidence about the Braves and Brewers series last week.

He’s only pitched on one day’s rest 3x this year and has a 4.50 ERA. He’s never done it coming off 2 innings…all three were coming off a single inning of work.

Last night, I turned on the end of the Braves/Padres. At that time, if the Braves had won the Mets/Brewers game would have been played at 3 p.m. EST. Imagine leaving the ballpark last night not knowing if deciding game was 3 or 7 p.m. MLB never ceases to amaze me with their nonsense.

What ever happened to “to close to take” another horrible at bat by a Met with a RISP by Vientos, taking a hittable pitch for strike 2 and after a ball and a foul, took strike 3. Followed by a Nimmo strike out and an Alonso lazy fly to center. Leadoff double by Lindor wasted, 0-3 already with RISP.
