Met 2017 Season thread

Slow start for the offense besides Jay Bruce.

Here we go again.two excellent pitched games by our starters. We are not even making solid contact. It may be too early but I am concerned with Reyes' at bats. Way behind the ball, a really slow bat. And don't like his whiffs, much too many already, especially our lead off man. Hopefully, he comes around.

So far Jay Bruce is our offensive MVP. Not happy with Reyes or Granderson. Reyes looks terrible so far.

I'm not even sure Grandy has ever had a hit in april for us. At least it seems like that

I hear he has this as a clause in his contract, its allowed. Don't really like him cleaning up anyway, it seems like his mindset changes as opposed to leadoff or elsewhere.

Settle down boys, baseball is a marathon not a sprint. We are 2-1 after 3 whole games. The other side of the coin is the guy that nearly everyone wanted gone (Bruce) has looked decent (HR) and D'Arnaud only needs 12 Rbi to match last seasons epic total of 14!

Flores with a big home run yesterday as well. We got through Harvey's first start. Now we will see what Wheeler can do against a good Marlin lineup.

Marlins do have a good line-up. We need to do damage against their starter Chen (sp?). Marlins have a weak rotation.

Last night there was lots to be encouraged with insofar as Matt Harvey. If he returns to form, even without throwing 98 MPH, the Mets will have three #1 caliber pitchers at the top of the rotation. Of course keeping these guys healthy is always an issue, but if Matz or Wheeler can log 20 starts with good performance, and Gsellman resembling the guy who helped carry the Mets into the playoffs, this could be a very special season.

Was flipping in and out of the game so I didn't see every pitch but I liked how efficient Harvey was.with his pitches and I like that being seemingly slimmed down it didn't cost him anything on his fastball. I thought he had bulked up too much and got too heavy before

Couldn't agree more. Heath is everything for this rotation and the Met season. Two years ago the Mets dusted the Cubs in 4 games. Yes Murph was on fire but Noah, Harvey and DeGrom are and will be tough to beat in any series. Need to stay healthy over the ,long haul.

Historically, when Harvey is at his best, no one on the staff is better at conserving pitches. To that extent, he is a Seaver type of talent, who can get through 6 or 7 innings with a very low pitch count and few strikeouts, and then dial it up to ring up strikeouts and seal a deal. This is one guy who doesn't have to fan 8 guys who have a great night.

Last year the media complained he didn't knock in many runs, leading off didn't help. Now in the clean up spot should make a difference.

Conforto will probably see starting action on Sunday against a righty. Won't hurt to rest Granderson once in a while.

Wow! No contact against a pitcher throwing 88 to 91 mph. In fact we struck out 12 times last night against a Miami staff, Walker contributed 4 big K's. I'd like to think it is the weather but hasn't bothered the opposition.
Pitchers who have our number such as, Teheran and Conley continue to hold our offense.

I froze to death at Citifield last night. Opening Day was great weather and in the daytime. Lord knows why the 1st Saturday of the season was at night. The Mets just aren't hitting right now. Too much talent not to hit. Give them time. Marlins of South Florida looked just fine hitting though.

Anyone here a Yankees fan?
Even though I'm a met fan I dont hate the yankees since I rooted for them till I was 10 or 11 but never hated them after that.

I'm going to their afternoon game this wed

I guess I picked a good couple of days to be away and not have internet access based on our mets results :)

Being an avid Brooklyn Dodger fan I always disliked the Yankees. But I have to say after trying out for them during the summer months they showed the most class of any other teams I had tryouts with, providing Yankee uniforms and lunch each day. Plus the stadium locker rooms were gems compared to Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds.
