Matt A

It's news like this that makes me wonder why I put myself through the agony of rooting for this program.

Does Zach get all his tweets from reading what Paultz says here? Geez it's almost verbatim after Paultzman posts something on here

This better be a one time thing. You can't have an employee constantly looking for more money.

If the Golden Child is using Wade as leverage for more money. And the majority of the followers feel he deserves more. Then does a certain other grossly overpaid assistant coach disappear?

I have no problem if that scenario plays out

If these rumors have any truth to them, I think it's pretty disgusting. The guy claims this is his dream job. He's been here two years and accomplished absolutely nothing yet. I understand it's the way if things today, but so sick of watching athletes and coaches alike chase the money without any regard to loyalty or responsibility.

Thanks JF
The answer to your concern:
1.Because you, like most of us, CARE
and SJU is the best possible local program to take a step up the desirability ladder
2.And 41 pages & counting on this topic? Wow.
I think signing one solo d recruit will help aleve the obvious distress/frustration
3.Finally
In the current recruiting/ college BBall world, rumors, gossip, actual changes is the norm
Not just here at SJU but naturally nation wide...

I think signing one solid recruit NOW will quell much of the obvious anguish in all of us

all the best
Sheridan :cheer:
(oh just switched to Ulysses)

I think NCAA should make all coaches sit out a year if they leave schools to go to another. Why do kids have to sit out when guys that made promises to them get to leave whenever they want?

Re: @mabde33 and #LSU...Dude has SJU pumping thru his veins. School needs to step up, act like a player and do what it takes to retain him.

I bet the following happens. He leaves and then:
" Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!"
" Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes..."
" The dead rising from the grave!"
"Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!"

Knows him well, had CM on his radio shows years back to discuss NBA stuff when Mullin was still in Cali. & obviously through his current SJU gigs.

Rounders a great movie but that cookie tell was pretty silly.

Or they pay him within reason & capitalize on fact he loves NYC apparently & obviously is an alum. If not, as you note, life will go on. Baton Rouge v NYC :)

Again I don't following the recruiting process, but in the list of things that have gone wrong with the program, I am just not going to get worked up over an asst coach leaving. Might be uninformed or shortsighted on my part but Lovett thing bothers me more.
Anyway
Lets go Mets!

This is what happens when you offer Slice an associate head coach job at $500k and expected him only to "recruit".
Then our Rhodes Scholar coach pays the actual recruiter more than half that to do ALL the recruiting.
Then he hires his NBA buddy at a higher salary than the top recruiter to just "work with players" the recruiter recruited,
Then tells the recruiter he doesn't have the funds because they are still paying Slice.
Then Mullin gets pissed with Matt.
Then the new AD gets involved.
Then Mullin threatens to leave.
Then the Maven starts tweeting the only replacement candidate should be Steve Masiello.
Then Manhattan College offers Matt Abdelmassih the head coaching job at twice what Will Wade is offering.
Then Matt takes the Manhattan job and all his recruits with him.
Then produces 3 consecutive losing seasons and is fired.
Then..............

One more thing. Call me naive, but wasn't most of the selling point regarding Mullin that people would want to play for a Hall of Famer? I mean his actual coaching was the unknown. Thought he would help in recruiting the top players, no?

I like Matt A, and think the school should give him what he wants, but in the end, this is a slippery way for him to get paid.

All that jazz he has been spewing about "trust the process", i heart NY, sju loyalty, etc. is complete BS if he bolts

Why are some people saying he hasn't done anything in the 2 years he's been here? He recruited every single person on the roster right now. I would argue he's the most important piece of the program so far and going forward.
