Marquette, Sat. Feb. 10, Noon, YES (FOX SN) / 970AM

The winning streak coincides with Mullin shortening the bench even more. That we won all 3 with the following stat line for the bench is amazing: 60 minutes- 6 points, 0 rebounds, 1 assist. That's total, not per game. Zero minutes for Ali, and only 3 for Yakwe. Unless there is serious foul trouble and no other options, I expect it to stay that way. Trimble competes, and had 0 turnovers in 57 minutes. Looks like that is as far down the bench as he wants to go.

From Mike Vaccaro - Vac's Wacks

Nick Caimano: Now that’s the Chris Mullin that I knew from the past; fight hard and you can beat almost anybody. Last two wins were epic!

Vac: Problem is, you do wonder how a team good enough to have the week it had could possibly have had the month it had before it.

Ponds played excellent D on Howard , 6-19 but, give Howard his due . He is a great shooter and smart player . Housey also is a Star . You can see they could go for 70 combined on any given night . Ponds is a Lion , in the mold of great BB Brooklyn legends, Pearl, Mark J, Kenny Smith , Marbury, Telfair. I give Wojo a pass for his compliment of Ponds being a Pro. I don’t see it as a impetus for Shamorie to go to the NBA next year . Guess Mullin did . Wojo otherwise , gave great praise to Shamorie , as did Rowsey . Question ? If Ponds was named Naismith Player of the week after the Duke game , how can he not be again , after Villanova and Marquette ? Coaching ? Notice a lack of any shots st Chris this week . Maybe he’s turned into a Coaching genius . One thing has happened . Ponds looks healthy and Mullin has utilized both, his inside and outside game to best advantage . And , Shamorie isn’t getting lost as much when Simon is running the point . Teams have had no success in putting a big man on Ponds . In fact , it’s scary how easily he blows by them all, Spellman, Bagley , Hauser , etc . It’s embarssing for them . And, all the Staters are contributing . We struggled during the 0-11 drought with Clark, Owens or Ahmed in foul trouble . Relying on Amar and Yakwe as subs didn’t work . They were exploited badly when they got PT . Trimble , doesn’t make too many mistakes but, is slow on D and often looks unsure . He can hit the occasional open 3 too. Must beat DePaul to continue our run .

DePaul beat us in most aspects of the game in early January, Rebounds 46-30, Assists 17-11, FG% 49%-40%, 3-PT% 47%-35%, and a miserable 2nd half FG% of 32% to 50% and a pathetic 2nd half 3-PT shooting % of 9% compared to a scintillating 50% for DePaul. We lost by 17 points, 91-74.
I tally those woeful results to Ponds being gimpy and his and the team’s early and pronounced struggles on compensating for LoVett’s absence. This team, since the Butler debacle, is different.
Ponds is healthy and has found his stroke. Simon, Clark, Ahmed, and Owens have all improved and this team has cohered into a very gritty group. They never quit.
Hoping we prevail against DePaul—who romped over Providence on the road and lost a thriller to Creighton at home.
Let’s go Johnnies.

As I always said, just leave the starters in. Yes that's tough, but we have no bench.
With the way I see it, just leave the starters in until they foul out, if they stay out of foul trouble, then even better.

If we don't play the bench at least a few minutes a game they will never improve and will be useless when you have to use them.
Ponds playing 40 minutes each game is crazy. Give him a minute to catch his breath, here and there, and he won't break down in the crunch.

Improve????????????
Amar is a freaking senior, and Yakwe a junior. If they were gonna improved, you would think they would have by now.

Main point is for the starters to have some gas in the tank at the end of the game.

Amar Alibegovic has always been the last man on the bench and only played when Owens or Clark collected early fouls. As long as those two stay in the game Amar will be a last resort. I tend to think Yakwe makes the same mistakes in practices and Mullin sees him as a liability in tight game situations. Frankly, I find it miraculous that we have had the 3 game winning streak with almost zero offensive contributions from the bench. In some of our losses where Clark and Owens got into early foul trouble a real bench would have been the difference. That and LoVett's refusal to be part of the team were major factors in losing those close games. I find it also ironic that two jack offs, Ellison and Wilson, transferred to only sit out for teams that are having disastrous seasons and whose coaches are in hot seats. Karma baby!

Yakwe hasn’t played substantial minutes since he fouled Derickson. Coincidence?

Yakwe plays with his instinct and his instinct is usually bad. His other issue is that he can't handle the ball well. He has big time hands issues and tends to repeat mistakes. Mullin seems to have tolerated that in years one and two but he is learning not to have the same kids lose games for him when given minutes.

Yeah I get that, but don't be surprised if we lose by 2 or 3 because of those 5minutes of the bench.

I'd rather have tired starters out there, then the bench guys in there at any point in the game.
I guess only Trimble.

Don't worry I anticipated your writer's block and dedicated my recap to you!

I didn't say I had writers block stupid, learn to read. I said that because I'd trained myself to write in the absence of inspiration I'd turned out 1500 words of rancid turgid hackneyed contrived embarrassing bullshit. In fact, if it had sucked just a bit more people might have thought I was stealing from you, as opposed to visa versa. Wouldn't that be ironic. The writer plagiarizes the plagiarist and then later the plagiarist plagiarizes the writer, which is to say himself. In doing so he finally writes something original but what he writes sucks to the third power and in a road to Damascus moment he realizes that he's a completely boring plonker and hangs himself. Would love to chat more but I need to get my agent on the phone stat, I think I can get a Netflix special out of this.

Thanks for "Lynching" me in your response advocatus stercore.
What is ironic is your statement that you "turned out 1500 words of rancid turgid hackneyed contrived embarrassing bullshit."
Actually, even what you did post was well below your usual verbal flatulence that we love to read. Trying to go straight after your pulitzer worthy years of blasting Lavin has destroyed your style. But then again that's to be expected from a country bumpkin writer as opposed to us cultured types from Brooklyn, Queens and da Bronx.
Stay warm by your kerosene stove and don't forget to feed the chickens and rabbits.

If we had to go to the bench Beyond Trimble, I'd only look to Yakwe in an absolute bind. Amar, no way. Keep in mind, the Duke and Villanova games ended as 2 possession games, including Duke cutting to 1 on the Allen 3 and Villanova cutting to 2 in the final minute. A couple mistakes by those 2, be it bad hands, dumb fouls during the course of the game changes end game situations for us dramatically. In both big wins, we built nice leads and held on. Amar fouls once every 5 minutes of court time he gets, that is 2 times the rate of the rest of the team! He is a senior with little contributory upside, i'd rather get Trimble the minutes as he is a Freshman. If it ain't broke right now, don't fix it.

I’d play a Yakwe a few minutes in the first half against DePaul. But what do I know

Plagiarists' [... original writing] is almost always amateurish and deeply flawed, although it’s obvious that a great deal of effort went into it.

[...]

Plagiarists [...] are almost always working to impress someone else by stealing another’s work. This type of theft usually stems from some kind of feeling of inadequacy.

[...]

Many plagiarists are drama queens that thrive on any kind of attention, even negative.

[...]

Many plagiarists steal because they are simply stupid.
