Marquette game

This board is disgraceful, that's why you don't give up on your goddam team. That was an amazing effort, and very promising for the BET.

I'm not a moral victory type of guy, but a great effort by St. John's players

Played with a lot of heart out there

The only one who seemed to truly give up was the OP. That was even before tip-off. He predicted 10 point halves.

I'm talking the days leading up to the game, everybody was just deeming the season over, it's not over

Great comeback and effort. Almost forgot that it's in the team. They needed to get up 4 in OT to win and had a couple of shots but just could't do it. Marquette missing FT's opened the door but Johnnie's just could not finish the deal. Tough loss but look at the celebration by Marquette, they certainly felt relieved. Looked like it was going to second OT. On to the last Big East Tourney as we know it.

The team showed a lot of grit at the end of regulation. I was pleasantly surprised at the run to force OT. I was proud of the way they played.

Excellent comeback by a depleted St.John's team. I imagine Balamou was in the game at the end for defensive reasons. Maybe it's after the fact but I would have preferred Branch on Blue. He was guarding Couduagan, while Greene was on Lockett.. Obekpa made a nice effort trying to block the last shot. Was hoping Lavin would have played offense - defense substitution between Bourgault and Balamou. Afterall, Marco's last shot was a three pointer to help close the gap at the end of regulation.
Got to feel better going into the B.E. Tournament.

Glad the tenor of the board finally changed. Also, good to see Sir Dom as invested in this as his teammates!

Give the board time, Rising. LOL

You know it doesn't take long for the pessimism to creep in.

Those guys aren't posting. Apathy is already setting in and they did not watch the game. I called a few guys during the comeback and they were not even watching or cared.

They played a gritty hard nosed game. I am proud of the effort they showed.

I just got home and wanted to post before I read any of the comments here.

This was one of the great efforts of the season. They took the team that is at the top of the Big East, and didn't fold, and nearly beat them in OT.

The crowd was on its feet for the entire OT. Christian Jones payed as well as can be expected given his minutes this season, outstanding game. Branch is at 85% which is better than some of our guys at 100% - his two drives to the hoop were beautiful. Obekpa is becoming more and more of a force each game. He seemed to have blocked 6 or 7 shots, and was right there on many others, including the game winner. His put back late in the game, despite being boxed out was a tough, big time play. Phil Greene maligned all year, hit big shots all throughout the second half.

We may not have won, will not go to the dance, but I couldn't be more proud to wear red today

While a loss in the books, this team won me over today. Obekpa played an outstanding game giving us a glimpse of the defensive force he is capeable of being. Phil played a good game as well only this time his shots were dropping. Jamal has shown himself to be a most adequite leader of the future. I do think the refs missed the push off on Vander what's his face when he drove on Obekpa that probably cost us the game.

The only negative to me was when the camera scanned to DLo in the stands and when we tied the game, to put it in overtime, DLo sat stoically showing no emotion at all. Guess he was not too thrilled that the team did that well without him. Not surprised.

Congrats to the team for playing, what the TV announcers said was one of the hardest payed game they have seen in a long time.

One of the things I'm really looking forward to seeing over the next few years is the development of Obekpa's offensive game. He definitely has some tools to work with. Despite his poor FT percentage, I've seen him make a few shots from the top of the key. And I've also seen him make some really nice passes from the low block. To me, his biggest issue right now is handling the ball. Once he puts the ball on the floor, he's done for. Hopefully, over the off season he really works on his low post moves and protecting the ball. But I have a feeling that by his junior year he could be a real weapon for us down by the basket.

There is no such thing as a good loss, but this is close to one as I've seen in a long time
We played with tremendous enthusiasm and determination
We had a team that won a share of the BE title "on the ropes" with two key pieces missing
Great effort by everyone
Especially pleased with the play of Christian Jones
I have said all season that I feel that he has the potential to be a very good contributor down the road
Disappointed with the poor outside shooting of Bourgault
We could have won if his shot was "on"
Let's hope for a continued stellar effort in the BE tournament, starting with a payback win vs. Providence

I was proud of the guys. Played w passion. Jones looked good, Marco did not. Greene had a good game and shot well . Sampson and Branch also looked good. I believe Branch had 8 assists and CO had 7 blocks. If Marco didnt have such a bad shooting day or we hit out FTs we would have won.Hopefully w Dom we could win our 1st round BE tourny game. Id love to see Harrison back w a good attitude next year. Everybody thaught we would get out butts kicked this game, including myself.

People get too down on PG4 sometimes. Lets be honest, every player will have their off days but when you look at how often he hits "his" shot it's impressive for a soph. Same thing with Sampson. Now one thing I will get down on PG4 for is his aimless dribbling. And passing around the perimeter. That kid only breaks the plane of the 3 point line with the dribble. If he developed a killer instinct with the pass (as we saw Branch today start to have more of) like he sometimes shows off the dribble then he will be one heck of a player.

I know these guys are close and they want to win but they need to stop trying to do too much. Today was a good sign of what these kids can do when they each play within their game and stop trying to do too much.

First he shows too much emotion. Now he shows none. Damned if you do, damned if you don't :)
