Marquette game

This game hurt.

Gritty effort by the kids and they didn't give up.

Jones was impressive. Branch had a couple of passes that wowed me. I swear he throws the fastest passes I ever really remember a Johnnie making the past 20 years.

One of the announcers mentioned that Branch's pass to Greene under the basket was the best pass he has ever seen in basketball. Probably doesn't remember Bob Cousy.

It was also deflected.

But still made it into his hands for the blown lay in. By the way that was Mike Patrick calling the play by play. He's seen a fair amount of games in his life.

And it might be time for him to call it quits. He was lost. Calling Obepka Otule. Waxing on about Phil's bad 3 point percentage when in reality he hit a long 2. Called a travel when meanwhile it was offensive foul. He was lot.

The pass was nice but a deflection and blown finish should have curtailed the excitement.

Mike Patrick has been losing it for several years.

Does anyone recall a game between Alabama and Georgia several years ago? I do! It was rather funny.

Never liked Patrick, I always thought he was about the hype not the substance. The Dick Vitale of play by play.

When these kids don't try and do too much they can be pretty good. Greene played within his game and found his sweet spot. Branch took some chances and made some good decisions with the ball. Maybe his best passing game this season? Jones came on strong. Borgault needs to stop pretending to be D'lo. Lets run some screens and get him some open shots. If we can get Marco, Greene, and Sampson open shots they will hit them. It's them forcing up so so contested shots that make our heads shake and the bad possessions pile up.
.

.I have been saying for months that we need to pick for Marco. WE either lack the skill set or .ignore it Greene needs to pass the ball and cut back on his dribbling It appears to me Marco when gets to open ..spots. Greene usually ignores him or when he dribbles or passes to him he is then covered His timely is most always late That makes a big difference

IMO it's obvious Greene ignores him. One thing I noticed is that he is ignoring him a lot when Marco is stagnant and his guy is guarding him. Almost like he knows he can't create his own shot. If that's the case then Marco needs to communicate to Phil and coach that he wants to do that and they will make it happen. Christian Jones should be playing a bigger roll setting screens and being a goon in the middle. That kid could have 8 pts a game just off pick and rolls and put backs.

We run an NBA style create your own offense without the NBA talent. Just can't do that. Guarantee we get some structure and a few plays over the offseason and this team could be flying through their schedule next year. Their potential is maddening!

A great pass implies a finish on the play. So, by definition, it was not a pass but an attempted pass. No matter, Jamal is the best we have at passing so he gets an A for effort.

While a loss in the books, this team won me over today. Obekpa played an outstanding game giving us a glimpse of the defensive force he is capeable of being. Phil played a good game as well only this time his shots were dropping. Jamal has shown himself to be a most adequite leader of the future. I do think the refs missed the push off on Vander what's his face when he drove on Obekpa that probably cost us the game.

The only negative to me was when the camera scanned to DLo in the stands and when we tied the game, to put it in overtime, DLo sat stoically showing no emotion at all. Guess he was not too thrilled that the team did that well without him. Not surprised.

Congrats to the team for playing, what the TV announcers said was one of the hardest payed game they have seen in a long time.

Not true he was sitting a few rows ahead of me, he was totally into the last few minutes.

First he shows too much emotion. Now he shows none. Damned if you do, damned if you don't :)

Might not mean anything but Pointer was in a shirt and jacket while DLO was in street clothes. Dont think that represents us very well. If he is making it out to games, i doubt he is thinking of leaving.

Means nothing. Pointer was behind bench, D'lo was on the other side of the court.

I didn't think it was very funny. Thanks a lot for bringing this game up. Oh wait, Bama has won 3 out of the last 4 NC. Guess I can put up with this reference. :)
