March Madness

Even with St. Mary's stealing a bid, we're still in the "Last Four Byes" in Lunardi's bracket released this morning. We're somehow up to a 10 in BracketMatrix, even with St. Mary's inclusion, but not many of the component Brackets on BracketMatrix have factored in St. Mary's yet, so it remains to be seen what happens there.

Clemson taking it to NC State early, 36-18. This might very well be a game where the winner is in, and the loser goes home.

Came here to say the same - essentially a play in game right now.

Not watching, but it looks like State has gone on a bit of a run here. Trying to get back in it.

Clemson tends to go into funks on the offensive end. They're pretty dang solid on the defensive end, though.

If the foul was on Trapp (a local kid), then that's a poor call. Even if the foul was on Reed, then it's still suspect. Nevertheless, Clemson blew a big lead when they were once in complete control.

The loser of this game could be seriously sweating it out come Sunday.

Clemson blows it. They will not be dancing this year. Resume is bad. 1-10 vs. Q1.

Watching that game made me feel a little better about us. Those teams both stink. Maybe we aren’t the worst team on the bubble

Indiana vs. Ohio State tomorrow at 12:30PM. Loser is out. Winner still probably needs one more.

Agree 100 percent. Every other year they put in iffy power conference teams. But this year is even worse than iffy for those teams. Throw Lipscomb, etc. a bone. You can go back to the middling major teams of the world next season.

Yeah, in a down year for the major conferences, I would love to see a few more bids go to mid majors who earned it, but did not quite win their tourneys. Of course, not at the expense of our Johnnies....

That would be the one drawback.

But after initial anger, I'd have a blast rooting my ass off for Hofstra.

Yes, we still have more BET games to play, and no we are not 100% guaranteed a bid yet. However, no matter what happens all of us will have reason to watch Selection Sunday for the first time since 2015.

I thought we could use a thread where we exclusively talk about where bracketologists have us playing, but if mods want to merge this with the March Madness thread then feel free to.

My favorite source to use is Bracket Matrix, as it is an aggregate of ~120 brackets filled out by analysts.

This hasn't been updated yet after the DePaul game, but they have us as the 1st #11 seed, so we are "in the field" by 7 spots. 79/100 analysts have us IN. Note, the final #12 seed was stolen by St. Mary's. Expect a couple more bid thieves this week.

Who to root FOR/against on Thursday:
*BUFFALO over Akron- we want Buffalo so the MAC doesn't have a bid thief.
*VILLANOVA over Providence- we want Nova to remain a Q1 win. Currently their NET is #25 (needs to stay within top 30).
*VIRGINIA over NC State- NC State is the 2nd #11 seed.
*OHIO ST over Indiana- Ohio St is the 2nd #12 seed. Indiana is the 1st team OUT.
*IOWA ST over Baylor- Baylor is the 2nd #9 seed.
*ARKANSAS over Florida- Florida is the 4th #11 seed.
*KANSAS ST over Tcu- TCU is the 4th #10 seed.
*XAVIER over Creighton- Creighton is the 3rd team OUT.
*NEVADA over Boise St- we want Nevada so the MW doesn't have a bid thief.
*WASHINGTON over Usc- we want UW so the Pac doesn't have a bid thief.
*PENN ST over Minnesota- Minnesota is the 4th #10 seed.
*OLE MISS over Alabama- Alabama is the 5th team OUT.
*DUKE over Syracuse- Syracuse is the 4th #9 seed.
*KANSAS over Texas- Texas is the 2nd team OUT.
*UCLA over Arizona St- Arizona St is the 3rd #11 seed.
*GEORGETOWN over Seton Hall- Georgetown's NET is #77, and we want them to move up two spots to become Q1. Seton Hall is the 1st #10 seed.

I like the 11 seed. You need to go thru a 5 and 3 seed to the sweet 16. Those aren't that daunting. ESPN has us playing a very beatable Miss St team and then a tough Michigan team. In true NCAA fashion I could see them putting us up against TT and Owens in the third round.
