Luis status

Didn't Pitino say he needed 8 practices? If it's limited basketball activities and there's some games without much gaps in between, I feel like Jan 10 against Providence or Jan 13 against Creighton seems more realistic. He also said it could've been preventable, so I don't think they're going to rush him.
Pitino said three weeks.

We’re all hoping this kid will turn out to be some kind of savior. I think that’s unrealistic. At best, in three weeks we’ll be trying to integrate a mid-major transfer in the midst of the Big East season who hasn’t played all year. Based on the reports, it appears unlikely the kid will even be 100 percent healthy this year.

Getting into game shape is always a challenge too. Be good to have him back even initially w well managed minutes.

Like a lot of young players his shooting may be streaky but he seems to have a good all around game with the ability to rebound, pass and play defense guarding multiple positions. I think the latter trades will translate to the Big East quicker. Even 15 minutes a game could give us a spark. He can do a lot of what Glen Taylor does but is more athletic. He is also coming from the Atlantic 10 which is better competition then the Ivy League or MAAC especially at the top of the league.

Getting this kid healthy obviously the most important thing. People make too much of the mid major thing though; Xavier's starting backcourt, which is considered their strength, are first year transfers from Rice & Western Kentucky, not to mention Kolek, Scheirerman, Ashworth and countless others who made the transition seamlessly.

I guess you didn’t read my post that preceded the one you quoted and responded to.

This dude on Twitter who was right on mostly everything during the offseason then went quiet says Luis will play tomorrow.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he does. Pitino looks for any edge he can get and throwing people off the trail on injuries could definitely be a strategy. Also, it's pretty atypical for a guy to be dressed and going through warmups with the team like Luis did on Wednesday and still be weeks away from returning. We'll see though

If he does play here then buckeyshrdy would have had the first scoop into this several days ago.
