Some takeaways after finally watching a game that counted l, most of which we already know:
- we will be as athletic and quick as any team we play
- ponds / heron / LJ will form quite and offensive trio... we should have plenty of open looks with their ability to get to the rim...just need to find players to hit the 3 (issue)
- we will get owned by skilled big men down low (wasn’t a fan of two Loyola players attempting to back down Keita with moderate success, just lacking the skill to finish ) not sure how they address that
- not sure if my bar is that low for our half court offense, but I swear I saw a couple attempts at back door cuts, it generally looked like they were attempting set plays.
- happy to see Williams get time that mattered, his defense will be welcomed
- Roberts ....raw...glad he got in with a fair amount of time left...but don’t expect anything other than a couple rebounds.
- after being asked to do so much last year, Clark and Simon will take some time to adjust to their new roles- each still critical to our success
Now moving on to an absolute Force...given that we play them, watching the duke game the same night as ours...man I am excited for that game. Their 3 studs are surrounded by players that know exactly where to be for rebounds and loose balls. Feel like that game thread should be started soon lol. Barrett can get what he wants when he wants, Zion- absolutely more than a dunker, reddish- so smooth. That team is special.
Sorry for looking ahead...but Bowling green just doesn’t excite me lol
