This is not your typical Five star freshman team. Three of the top 4 picks in the 2019 NBA Draft will be Duke freshmen. IMO, they are legit NBA players NOW.
Maybe so but all I am saying is that winning one game at the beginning of the season does not make a great team nor does having all the talent in the world for that matter. Let them prove they are one of the greatest teams of all time before the grand Duke anointing.
They are a Fab Four for sure but definitely have to prove they can be as devastating as the Fab Five. My only complaint is R. J, Barrett would have been a first round lottery pick no matter where he played his one year of college basketball. How Mullin and Mitch could not get on his list is disappointing.
Barrett was going to a school that would be a national title contender his one year in college, pure and simple.
He could have gone to a SWAC school and taken them to the Sweet Sixteen.

The only reason Duke are national contenders is because of 4 freshmen. He and Williamson the main factors. Give us any of their freshmen and so are St. John's. There is something more to the picture. Plain and simple.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you feel Mullin is to blame?
Absolutely not!
I'm implying that Duke (and Kentucky and Kansas) are using tactics that are below Mully!

Zach B
This stat is pretty revealing: St Johns had one double-figure scorer off the bench all of last year. Already equaled that output with Mikey Dixon’s performance the other night

And I expect it to happen 20 more times before season ends.

Funny, 72 ... but Val Kilmer's hairdo is the least of our problems. She could roll out of bed all season with an Albert Einstein-like hairdo if it meant our season would be successful ...but unfortunately it wouldn't matter.

The FAB 5 was really FAB 3 as Jimmy King and Ray Jackson were hardly great players. Reddish and Jones are better than both. RJ is better than Rose and I think Williamson is better than Juwan Howard. Webber was probably the best of the 9 overall.

And I get that Michigan made the Final 4 their first year but if you look at the regular season they did nothing particularly special. They went 11-7 in the Big 10 and got a 6 seed in the NCAA's. Then their NCAA bracket fell apart when both the 2 and 3 seeds lost so they got the play the 14 and 11 seeds in rounds 2 and 3. This Duke team is not going to be a 6 seed. Take that to the bank.

Still hate them just because they're, well, Duke, but I will take it to the bank. They looked awesome.

Whatever Jimmy King ended up as he was considered a top 10 or so recruit coming out of HS. Only Ray Jackson was outside the top 10 in that class, in the bottom quarter of the top 100.

I don't have other sources in front of me, but my memory does not remember things the same way as wikipedia says. I remember Rose being higher than Howard, and King in the 40s or 50s, definitely not top 10.

From good ole Wiki. And USA Today

The class consisted of Detroit natives Chris Webber (#1) and Jalen Rose (#5), Chicago native Juwan Howard (#3), and two recruits from Texas: Plano's Jimmy King (#9) and Austin's Ray Jackson (#84).
