I'm surprised no one brought it up, or maybe they did and I missed it. I even thought twice about putting it out there but it bothered me enough I had to post about it.
Mullin and staff except for Matt A made it to the court as the anthem started. Why? Why does it take so long to make your way out to the court any join the team? Matt A was out there atleast 5 mins before the buzzer. I've noticed it before but not this bad, they came through the back entrance and not across the court because that would of looked really bad.

I think they need to establish him inside on offense as soon as he gets in the game. The only time I want to see him on the perimeter is to draw out the big(s) to create room for everyone else but that should be the exception. First time I see him on the perimeter vs a zone I think I will stroke.
We better not write him off because playing with a 6'7 center who is in the game to shoot threes is a recipe for losing the big games on the calendar. Sedee Keita, although a power forward, will have to learn to play inside, like it or not. I've been watching Clark long enough to realize he is not an inside presence in any shape, matter or form. Owens would have made this team a Big East title contender and a big loss by this staff. That we have lost every big man we have recruited or by transfer to date is very troubling. Hopefully this inability to retain or sign bigs changes by Spring.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t one of the main reasons that Owens left is because he didn’t want to play down low?
We will miss his uncanny shot blocking and playing with 100% intensity. He and pops didn't feel to be a part of the offensive schemes but no one knows what really drove the transfer bus other than playing time.
We most certainly could have used him this year, but all I’m sayin this that he and his father seemingly weren’t buying in to the idea of him playing the low post. And we have plenty of perimeter players. The last thing we needed was for our tallest player to be hoisting up 3s in a effort to raise his pro stock. Sorry he left, but not sure that I’d blame the staff for his departure.

One of the bigs we unsuccessfully recruited, the fifth year transfer, should be playing for DePaul tonight.
Bigs and "unsuccessfully recruited" are synonymous for this regime. Femi may have actually started over Keita (which is not saying much). The kid is from Long Island. What could go wrong.....right? Ten transfers out since year one but only two transfers in over 6'8 worth playing time is inexcusable.

Femi would 100 percent started over Keita. But that would have precluded us from landing Heron. I can't remember time line, but I suppose if you knew you were getting Femi and Heron, Caraher would not be here. Femi would also want to be PF or SF, not a center.

THIS was the year to have Femi and not a Caraher sitting out. Femi has no outside game while Keita actually does along with better lateral movement but they would have complimented each other. Playing 2 guards and three forwards with our talent may be enough for most games but when Clark and Keita are in foul trouble we become very small. Very!

I'm afraid there will be lots of games this year where it's our Achilles' heel (or Achilles' tendon, as Frank Gifford used to say). We were killed by opposing teams' offensive rebounds last year, and -- even given that we're a much more talented team this year -- I see no reason not to think it's going to be that much different this year. Could be what keeps us from going to the Big Dance.

Look no further than the stats against the weakest team on our schedule Loyola and you may be correct.

This is not your typical Five star freshman team. Three of the top 4 picks in the 2019 NBA Draft will be Duke freshmen. IMO, they are legit NBA players NOW.
Maybe so but all I am saying is that winning one game at the beginning of the season does not make a great team nor does having all the talent in the world for that matter. Let them prove they are one of the greatest teams of all time before the grand Duke anointing.
They are a Fab Four for sure but definitely have to prove they can be as devastating as the Fab Five. My only complaint is R. J, Barrett would have been a first round lottery pick no matter where he played his one year of college basketball. How Mullin and Mitch could not get on his list is disappointing.
Barrett was going to a school that would be a national title contender his one year in college, pure and simple.

When teams first come out to warm-up, the whole coaching staff in most programs don’t come out. Teams use to run back to the locker room with about 10-12 minutes left on the clock when the National Anthem would be played (we always stayed on the court) on national televised games and would come back out still without the head coach when it was done (this practice overall has changed with the Anthem being played closer to game time and both teams staying on the court). A lot of head coaches tend to come out with 3-5 minutes left on the clock during warm-ups.
MEDIA BS...Just a couple of notes. The "play by play" was about the worst ever. Freshman high schools could do better. Fox brought in two "color" people. Neither had any ability to do play by play. The interrupted the game several times with crap like graphics that covered the action...talk about Loyola's new coach and the school which falls under the "who gives a sht" category. There was a suck up interview with the Big East president which yielded no new information during the action which was missed. At the end, the people in the truck replayed the phantom fifth foul against Keita which showed he didn't touch the other player. The announcers claimed they saw contact. Horrible! I never want to see or hear them again.
By the way...New York's "Hometown" paper, the Daily News had no articles on the game. The Post sent two reporters.

Right about the play by play announcer. He was horrible. I know some have a soft spot for him because he's a BE guy but he should start out doing some NEC games. Kustok is a sideline reporter who did play the sport and knows ball but she was taking so long to tell a story or get a point across then Fanta couldn't describe the action. Not like it would have been a good description anyway.
As you know the DN pretty much wiped out its sports section so no surprise there.

The only reason Duke are national contenders is because of 4 freshmen. He and Williamson the main factors. Give us any of their freshmen and so are St. John's. There is something more to the picture. Plain and simple.
