Assuming LoVett truly does feel good and is refusing to play bc of fear if injury, the decision is a curious one. Obviously the NBA is out of the question, but I can’t see how this helps his stock in the overseas market.

If I were a pro team, I would think twice before taking somebody who either (1) suffered a reoccurring knee injury that prevented him from playing two out of three years; or (2) was so concerned about the risk of getting injured that he quit on his team and refused to play his final year.

I know that in college football some kids forego playing in bowl games to reduce the threat of injury, but if the speculation is true, this is taking it to a whole new level.
 
I tend to come from the belief that these players should be paid for playing college basketball. Now I will also say, if you have zero interest in playing for the school when you have the ability to play just tell us you’re going pro and you don’t want to risk further injury.

Again, I will never knock a brother for securing the bag, but just keep it one hundred with us and let us move on.

Why not just leave now then? Unless if he would only have spot for next year.
Guys that know they will get drafted by NBA don't just sit out the year.

Have to believe he still wants to get his college degree. He probably wants to still accumulate credits so he can come back in the future and get it.

Don't think there is any such thing as a partial redshirt. He already still has 2 years of eligibility left which virtually no one believes he will use so I don't think another year of eligibility is something to be concerned about.
 
wouldn't be a normal year without some sort of drama surrounding this program. haven't us loyal fans been through enough? False hopes are not what we need, we are tough NYers, give it to us st8. Marcus are you coming back or not? If so, when? If not, why?

Completely agre. I suspect we will have clarity soon. Until then, enjoy watching Marcus dance on the court in street clothes!

I have a feeling we will never see him in an SJU uni again.
 
If that is really true (announced via twitter w/o giving school, staff & teammates the courtesy of advance notice/explanation), it is beyond classless.

Um... not exactly going out on a limb there.
 
This is one of the more absurd saga's we've seen, and that's saying something. Good riddance. We can miss the tournament with or without him, get a grad transfer PG with his open scholarship.
