Kyle Anderson PG (UCLA)

What position does he actually play? Everything I have seen lists him as a PG, but ESPN has him listed as a Small Forward.

Did he change positions at all in his career?

It is nice to see Reverand Donald J. Harrington, C.M. Now take
an interest in the St.John's men's basketball team.

Refresh my recollection; how many games did Reverand Donald J. Harrington, C.M. Attend during the Roberts regime - - was it 2 games or 3?

Not sure I'd be too thrilled about Baron Davis talking to KA, and to say Lavin is the one who made him into a star is hilarious. Here's a quote with Baron Davis' thoughts on how Lavin is as a coach.

"We should have a banner up there: the only team to make the tournament without a coach."

Interesting first post.
You have a horse in the race?

I believe he's a G'town fan, Tom.

He can play point guard or point forward.

Yeah. What a dumb move having a prominent NBA player who every kid in the country knows of who played for Lavin at UCLA talk to a potential recruit. I'm sure the whole reason for Lavin and co. to get Davis to talk to Anderson was to tell him to run for the hills.

Do not get it twisted! Many of these G'town and Hall fans are worried as the dickens about Anderson coming to St. John's. Do you think they are drumming up all kinds of madness--in reference to the Johnnies--when it comes to this recruitment for the heck of it? Maybe, it helps them feel or sleep good.

I've also heard several fans of both schools (mainly, the Hall fans more than anything) talk about not knowing how well our 2011 recruiting class is going to play and whatnot. This is true! But, they know deep down we have a talented bunch coming in (with Gathers and Wood joining 'em in 2012). Otherwise, they wouldn't be so worried about Anderson signing with the Johnnies.

I know their fan bases want Anderson just like our fan base. There is a difference of not wanting a player to go somewhere versus being worried about a player going somewhere. They do not want him to go and worried about Anderson (heading) to St. John's.

The other fans are worried because Anderson's the final piece of the puzzle for us. The proverbial head for our Voltron.
The other fans should be worried, quite frankly.

I'm pretty sure that when Sylven Landesberg came on his visit a few years back Harrington met with him as well. I'm guessing he meets with some of the bigger recruits when asked.

Does anyone know if Kyle's father accompanied him on his other visits ? His mom and two sibs were with him when he visited us .

So let me see if I have this straight...You would have us believe that:

Not only does Baron Davis think his team should have won a National title, but he also believes Lavin is a bad coach/moron and is the single reason he didn't win that title.

On top of that
you are suggesting that because he feels Lavin robbed him of said title, and because Davis "reportedly" considers Lavin a lousy HC/moron, that Davis is working out all summer at a school he has no affiliation with, with a coach he hates and has no respect for, only to talk to recruits and steer them to other schools thereby sabotaging Lavins recruiting efforts and paying him back for that lost title.

Wow...

You UCLA guys crack me up. :silly:

i think ka has already made up his mind. geez it's 2weeks away. baron bleeds blue and gold, so he not recruiting on lavin's behalf. to think otherwise is idiotic. it would be like recruiting AGAINST ucla. baron did say that ucla team should have won an nc. he also followed that up with "but if we had lavin would still be their coach". however what baron thinks of lavin's coaching skills has nothing to do with lavin the person. I'm sure ka has already formulated his thoughts on ucla. what more can baron say? ....see you at the ucla men's gym, Kyle? whatever ploy lavin had in mind might backfire.

all this ploy does is show how close this recruiting battle is. if sj were comfortably ahead lavin wouldn't do this

As Kyle's mom said in her interview it would seem that Baron didn't back a horse, just discussed the overall process with the family.

The strength of his presence, however, is the reminder that there are a number of NBA players who still go out of their way and all the way to Jamaica, Queens to work out with Rico Hines, not just when there are recruits around. It reaffirms what the staff no doubt stress to potential recruits about their ability to get them ready to play at the next level. There are two successful ex-NBA assistants on STJ's bench. That is the message and given my bias I think that it's a pretty strong one, not because it is so much better than the competition but because it directly addresses what could be a perceived weakness if all you thought about was STJ's recent success in getting kids into the NBA.

You left out that Nurideen Lindsey was quoted as saying that his pro advisors were Baron Davis and Kevin Durant - and they steered him to Lavin and SJU....

But Maybe Nuri and Durant are PART of this consiracy! :)

Actually, as for Baron winning an NCAA title - he's quite aware that to do that, he needed to stay in school a third year (he didn't). Because he's perfectly aware that in the round of 32 game as a frosh, HE TORE HIS ACL. And in his Sophmore season, center Dan Gadzuric went down with a broken leg the week before the NCAA tourney, and Baron himself was playing (to quote him at the time) at barely 70% with a bad turf-toe. With John Wooden coaching they weren't going to win a title without Baron in 1998, or without Gadzuric in 1999.

Join in line with many of the Hall and G'town fans who are worried about Lavin and the Johnnies, UCLA-milt. Many of you are so transparent that you should be made of glass.

Ploy? Do you know several NBA players come to work out with Rico Hines at St. John's? What difference does it make what Lavin thinks when it comes to this recruitment? Besides, Lavin has won enough recruiting battles on his own merit.

You sound about as bad as this one particular G'town moron who is running around on every message board b*tching (and talking violation madness) about Lavin having Davis on campus during Anderson's visit.

It seems to me that you're the one who is worried by the tone of your post.

baron bleeds blue and gold, so he not recruiting on lavin's behalf.
But he is working out in NY with the red and white. What's the matter, Davis couldn't find an available hoop at ucla?

to think otherwise is idiotic.
Not to worry, I think your post is very idiotic.

it would be like recruiting AGAINST ucla.
Like that's a bad thing

baron did say that ucla team should have won an nc. he also followed that up with "but if we had lavin would still be their coach".
Well I am even happier now Lavin never won a national title at ucla.

however what baron thinks of lavin's coaching skills has nothing to do with lavin the person.
Giving him something many ucla fans lack, common sense. You fans still think Lavin is satan.

I'm sure ka has already formulated his thoughts on ucla. what more can baron say? ....see you at the ucla men's gym, Kyle? .
Or maybe, "Hey Kyle, look forward to working out with you and Rico here in a couple of years."

whatever ploy lavin had in mind might backfire. all this ploy does is show how close this recruiting battle is. if sj were comfortably ahead lavin wouldn't do this

I don't know about that. The fact you are trolling here, speaks more to you and the majority of ucla fans who still have an long sharp pointer up your collective arses over everything Lavin.

i think ka has already made up his mind. geez it's 2weeks away. baron bleeds blue and gold, so he not recruiting on lavin's behalf. to think otherwise is idiotic. it would be like recruiting AGAINST ucla.

Dude...to suggest that Baron Davis would be ALLOWED to work out at SJU with Rico Hines if he were bad mouthing Lavin or SJU... or even promoting UCLA over them to recruits WHILE THEY WERE VISITING SJU is so absurd its laughable.

KA will go wherever he wants to go. Good luck to you and whatever school it is that you root for but I can't wait for this to be over so you (and a few others) can take your agendas back to whatever board it is you call home.
