Kyle Anderson PG (UCLA)

Can't believe I'm saying this but I honestly feel like SH has a chance. Not saying he will go there, but a small chance. That being said, I think location is flying too far low under the radar throughout this whole process. Even though we are hearing some UCLA rumblings as of late, I don't think he would go out there permanently. Just an opinion.

i don't have any contacts or have the slightest idea of what KA is thinking. but just reading his tweets i agree that SH does have a real chance. he seems to be really proud of jersey, has friends at SH, and has close friends on SH team. i personally think SH is a monumental risk with very little reward.

i may be paranoid right now, but i actually think it's between SH or UCLA. if it's not SH i think KA would rather not come across as a "traitor" by choosing the local BE rival (us) and just go as far away as possible.

Paranoid it is.

They had 60 fans show up at his game tonight. Nice little turnout. I doubt it will make a difference.

IMO, many of the Seton Hall fans could be potentially playing a dangerous game. They have put in quite a bit of emotional investment when it comes to Anderson. I've read both of the Hall boards and you can tell many of 'em have opened up themselves for heartache. I'm telling you... It's gonna be a mess on their respective boards, if he doesn't choose the Hall. We're possibly talking about a situation similiar to LeBron James and Cleveland Cav fans type of mess. Even moreso, if he ends up at St. John's. Many of 'em may literally hate him, if he ends up with the Johnnies.

Quite frankly, what many of their fans did tonight was all bells and whistles. What happens once those bells and whistles are taken off? What happens, if Kyle goes there and it's not cracked up to what he was anticipating? I hope he doesn't get caught up in the hoopla from their fans. You never know with kids. Nevertheless, I'll congratulate the Hall fans, if he goes there.

In some ways, I kinda see where redmen4life is coming from. Considering, what I've been reading and now witnessing from the Hall fans.... Anderson may feel obligated to the Hall now. I'm just speculating and tossing out probabilities. Nothing more.

I dont think Anderson will feel obligated to attend the Hall. At the end of the day, he will do what he feels is the right situation for him and his family. I remember some 30 odd years ago when I made the choice to attend St. John's it took weeks of debating and changing my mind before I finalized my decision, and it my decision really only affected me. I can only imagine what a talented 17 year old high school senior must go through in decideding on a school. As an St. johns grad and fan, I woulsd love the opportunity to see Anderson play in the red and white, but if he chooses to play somewhere else, I would wish him success. Except against us!!!

Logically speaking I think it will be St. Johns. I think he wants to get with a team that will get him an opportunity to make the final four. His best chance is with the studs coming in next year at St.Johns. Also his exposure to the NY media and national media will be greatly enhanced by playing for a coach with big time connections. This will ensure his chances to be a one and done and go pro. I think $$$$ trumps the Jersey swamps. I would think his father would point these items out to him. However, watch out for Florida. Billy's is slick like his mentor.

Per Zach Braziller.... He's gonna have the story tonight.

Anderson enjoys St. John's visit, remains unsure of future

Kyle Anderson has handled his recruitment much the way he goes about playing basketball – slow, steady and to the point.

The St. Anthony of Jersey City 6-foot-8 point guard cut his list to five – St. John’s, Georgetown, Seton Hall, UCLA and Florida – in June and has seen the first four a final time in the last few weeks. Wednesday was St. John’s turn and coach Steve Lavin pulled out all the stops, having former player and NBA veteran Baron Davis on campus to speak with the unique talent.

“It made a big impact,” said Anderson who saw the Big East school with his mother, Suzanne, and two brothers, Duanne and Jamar. “It shows he gets guys NBA ready. Baron talked about Coach Lav, how he helped him get to where he is today.”

In a brief interview, Anderson didn’t let on his future plans – as has been the norm for him – other than to say he still plans to commit Sept. 20, the day of his 18th birthday. He’s enjoyed visits to all four schools and said the only reason he’s been to UCLA multiple times in the last month is because he was out west for the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Classic in the first place.

Anderson’s stock has skyrocketed in the last year, starting with his decision to attend St. Anthony when Paterson Catholic closed. He led the Friars to a record seventh New Jersey Tournament of Champions title and mythical USA Today national championship. With the New Jersey Playaz Club, he guided them to titles at the End of Summer Classic, Desert Duel, Nike Baltimore Elite Invitational and Rumble in the Bronx, won MVP honors at the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Classic and Battle of the Boroughs and is currently ranked fourth in his class by Scout.com.

“From the neck on up, he’s the best high school basketball player in America,” talent evaluator Tom Konchalski said. “He’s just a winner. He won at Paterson Catholic, he won a national title at St. Anthony’s and he’s gonna win at the next level wherever he goes.”

As for Wednesday’s visit, he spent two hours in a meeting with the entire coaching staff, met the school’s president, Rev. Donald J. Harrington, C.M., hung out with the team and toured the campus.

"It went well," said Anderson, who lives with Suzanne in Harlem during the summer. "I met a lot of good people."

After his official visit to Florida, Anderson plans to meet with his parents and those close to him, go over the positives and negatives of each school.

“He’s very informed when it comes to the college basketball world,” his father, Kyle Anderson Sr., said. “He’s gonna make the best decision for him and it will be the best decision long term.”

At this point, however, Anderson has no idea where he will end up.

“I have a lot of thinking to do,” he said.

If this doesn't show life is a contradiction in terms (and previous supposed direct quotes," nothing does - " “It shows he gets guys NBA ready. Baron talked about Coach Lav, how he helped him get to where he is today.”

I'm not going to lie, just from the things I read about him and his own quotes, I've fallen in love with this kid and hope he chooses to come to St. John's. I actually like this kid so much that I wouldn't be upset at him for choosing another school, even if he remained in the Big East. It just appears that he will make an informed decision that's in his best interest which is what I wish for anyone.

That all being said, boy do I love the recruiting tactics of Coach Lavin. Baron Davis could not have been a better choice to ask to speak to Kyle. It directly addresses the potential recruiting tactics of others (the notion that Lavin can't actually coach up a talent to a higher level), he's a relatively tall point guard who became an all star at the pro level, and he's a former Bruin that's pitching St. John's and not UCLA. If we don't get it won't be for lack of effort and that's all that can be asked of a head coach.

The leap this program has made under Coach Lavin have exceeded any of my wildest dreams. I simply can't wait for the season to start

Not sure I'd be too thrilled about Baron Davis talking to KA, and to say Lavin is the one who made him into a star is hilarious. Here's a quote with Baron Davis' thoughts on how Lavin is as a coach.

"We should have a banner up there: the only team to make the tournament without a coach."

Baron Davis has disputed that alleged comment several times and claims there is nothing valid to that quote. He and Lavin are said to have a good standing relationship hence why he was even on campus in the first case in order to meet KA.

Interesting first post.

Did Baron say that, or was it rumored that he said it? I wonder now in light of his quote yesterday.
