Kansas St., Sat., Dec. 7, 11:30am, FOX

To everyone coming to the game...

This is obviously a big game before what happened over the weekend, and now it has even more meaning. The 11:30 start time is annoying sure, but given everything that has transpired I'd safely assume there will be plenty of tributes and videos and moments of silence scheduled prior to tip off, I'd bet starting around 11 or 11:15.

Carnesecca Arena is a big advantage for St. John's historically. Yes we normally play lower level opponents in the building thus the 80+% win rate, but it means even more Saturday. We have to make it a house of horrors for Kansas State. They are a very good three point shooting team, and yes they stumbled to LSU and Liberty, but they can shoot it. Fans need to be loud, in the game and make this the advantage it needs to be.

Big East vs Big 12 battle, this week is huge for the conference...we can't afford a slip up. Having a week to prepare for this game is great, they have a lot of individual talent. But I hope the fans are in it.

Rick Pitino said on WFAN yesterday that "we (coaches/player) are the caretakers of Lou's legacy" and I think the fans can make their mark with those sentiments by giving the home team the proper advantage in their own gym.

I can't wait to be in the building, to honor Lou and watch St. John's win. I hope to see everyone there.

Do it for Lou.
I will be there!!!!!

No one should sit down at CA until SJU scores its first basket. I’d propose it for every game, but at the very least this one.
I'd rather do it until the other team scores a basket.

Sometimes, with a crowd standing, if a team doesn't score for a couple of possessions, they start getting tight. At least, if that were to happen, let it work against the other team, than against us.

This made me think of the time I went to see St. John's play at Syracuse in 1989. The Syracuse fans do this so I figured I would stand until we scored. I can't remember exactly but unfortunately I was standing for a long time.

We have all been fans of this team for a long time. We know exactly how this game is going to go. Its going to come down the last possession.

Will we win this game? Are we man enough to win this game?

St. John’s Athletics will host ‘A Tribute to Coach Carnesecca’ this weekend during its men’s and women’s basketball home games in Queens. Both programs will wear “Lou” patches on their jerseys for the remainder of the season. Additionally, prior to tip-off before the men’s basketball team’s contest with Kansas State on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and the women’s basketball team’s matchup with Wake Forest on Sunday at 2 p.m., a tribute video, followed by a moment of silence will be take place inside Carnesecca Arena.

Fans in attendance for both contests this weekend will receive a commemorative Lou Carnesecca 526 pin in recognition of his all-time win total as well as a keepsake that features a custom illustration and career highlights of St. John’s legendary head coach. The Johnnies will also wear 526 shooting shirts and a special court decal will be installed in honor of Coach Carnesecca. Shooting shirts will be available for fans to purchase in arena or at the campus bookstore.

Coach Carnesecca’s reserved seat in Section 7, Row JJ, Seat 3 will also remain empty as a tribute to the Hall of Famer

St. John’s will also honor the legacy and life of Coach Carnesecca with various digital billboards on the Long Island Expressway, Whitestone Expressway and New Jersey Turnpike.

The previously scheduled “Black Out” initiative originally planned for the men’s basketball team’s contest with the Wildcats will be rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17 against DePaul. On Saturday, the Johnnies will wear their traditional white home uniforms against Kansas State.

“Coach Carnesecca’s reserved seat in Section 7, Row JJ, Seat 3 will also remain empty as a tribute to the Hall of Famer.”

A great suggestion made by a fellow poster to the administration who immediately thought it was a great idea.

To be clear, this is to be a permanent move.

Found out today, L'Ville did this with Denny Crum as well as UCLA with Wooden as Ron mentioned

Would love to see Coach's seat covered with a replica of his now famous sweater.
