Kadary

Yeah I told people from the beginning not to get caught up in the demeanor, it's just who he is all the time, at least on the court. Has always been that way. It's .... different. But has nothing to do with his play.

He also doesn't play the game the way fans are expecting their stars to play. Not about how fast, how high, how Rucker, how he shoots, just a different type of player than folks are used to watching. Unique.

I love watching Kadary with ball in his hands , he probes the defense to find the opening(weak spot) , then explodes to the basket! Awesome player!
One play that will stick with me for a long time i think against Uconn, late in game , where his driving lane was narrow and he couldnt get as close to hoop as he wanted, he puts up this high arcing ,almost left handed hook/layup that goes in off backboard. Phenomenal shot and clutch play! Anybody have that video?

When we are struggling offensively looking to stop opponents momentum or close out a game, I want the ball in his hands. He just has the ability to make big plays at critical times. His strength, savvy and fearlessness usually result in winning plays, be it a score or an excellent pass to guys in the right place to get a bucket. I think he is the guy in “nail biting times” that opposing coaches fear most on this team.

Kadary Richmond Tabbed Metropolitan Basketball Writers’ Association Player of the Week

St. John’s men’s basketball point guard logged a pair of double-doubles last week

QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 18, 2025) –
St. John’s men’s basketball guard Kadary Richmond was named the Metropolitan Basketball Writers’ Association (MBWA) Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.

His play has really grown on me, and being from Brooklyn originally that connection doesn't hurt either.

His game has many facets; I was not aware of him being such a good passer, and his quickness for steals and deflections. His defending post players is great since he is such a tall guard with wingspan. Grabs offensive rebounds too and always fighting for a 50/50 ball.

Best of all, he plays better in crunch time.

My prediction in the Big Dance at the end of (a) big game(s) he is going to take over and win one or two for us.

Brooklyn Strong.

I was almost confident he was going to hit both free throws as well

He's gotten tie-ups a bunch of tie-ups.

Offensive rebounds outworking the opponent. Every rebound is a 50/50 ball.

He dove on the floor against Uconn for a loose ball, near mid-court, his body stretched out, when a Uconn player go there, he couldn't grab the ball fully but flicked it to his teammate for a run out basket.

Also, on the 50-50 balls Kadary does not lose the ball. He must have great strength on the "tug of war" that goes on. As a kid in Brooklyn school yards he learned that lose and sit; win and play was the rule.

He's improved in this area. As he's also trying to do in free throw shooting. I'm wondering if he was facing back issues earlier this season. He looked kinda stiff and hesitant about hitting the floor. When our superstar was getting murdered on here back when by esteemed posters such as Wasju, this was a main complaint.
