Julian Draft Spots

Julian is now down to 57 on the NBAdraft.net mock.

Do you all think he will get selected or will he slip off the board?

His brother did and still became a contributor in the NBA.
By his performances in his last weeks of college ball I would say he goes undrafted unless he has wowed scouts since.
I expect him to play sporadically in the NBA if a team takes a gamble on him but he is much better suited to the European game where his shooting ability will be more important than his lack of defensive skills or athleticism.

Last two NBA mock drafts I looked at both have Knicks taking AJ Griffin if they don't trade up. I'd be good with that pick. Not crazy about them giving up multiple picks to move up. Knicks also have 42nd pick.

If they don't trade up for Purdue Jaden Ivey then I hope they take Duke's Mark Williams
The SG/SF from Kansas is going to be the steal of the draft.

Agbaji has the experience and the kid can straight up ball.

I think Williams will be one of the best guys to come out of this draft. Still not sure Ivey is worth trading up for, though.
Really, okay this is why I love college basketball. Watching these kids grow into superstar players. I think he’s going to be good. Where as “Fizzy” suggests Agbaji, who I feel may be overrated. Only time will tell.

Too bad for Champ. Not drafted but hope 76ers will be a good fit

Not sure if he was a bit more consistent, didn't lose this 3pt shot would have made much difference. So many international players and guys with less #'s

Unless I missed something (and it's certainly possible that I did), the Big East got totally shut out of this draft.

EDIT: Tyrese Martin of UCONN went to the Warriors at #51. That was it, though.

Philly's not a bad landing spot for Julian. Wish him the best and will try to catch his summer league games. Knicks a disaster. Looking at conditions on draft picks they got for giving up #11, I'm not sure they will wind up getting any of them. They already traded the Denver pick.

It is so difficult to crack NBA and Hope Julian frankly makes it, but the evaluation Moose posted clearly delineated his challenges. He seems to be a case of a very good college player not always translating to next level opportunities. I wish him well and hope he surprises me.

While not impossible to overcome, a lack of both size and quickness makes it's so tough to make it to the league. Being an old timer, I think back to the 75-76' Rutgers team where Phil Sellers was the best player on that team and an AA I believe. Yet he only had a cup of coffee in the league(also lack of size quickness by NBA standards) while Bailey and Jordan both spent a number of years in the league. Even Copeland spent a couple of years in the league. I was always surprised that Mike Dabney, the 2nd best player on that team, never made it to the league. Of course, there are always the exceptions. IE Adrian Dantley, Charles Barclay, etc. Although that was a different time and Barclay was deceptively quick. Anyhow, let's hope Champ is one of those exceptions.

Wow, only one Big East player drafted.... Tyrese Martin from UConn. Not even Justin Lewis made the cut. The reality is that the better HS players have not come to the Big East. Hopefully with the NIL and certain coach upgrades that will no longer be the case. When Duke has 5 players drafted and the entire Big East has 1, thats not a great look for the conference. So far the conference has had to rely on good players (not great ones) staying for a bit and having the experience factor in their favor. Let's hope the new transfer rule does not derail that.

To be fair, the Big East has been extremely strong, even despite not getting kids drafted. The Big East doesn't usually get one and dones, but the strength of the conference has been from the great 3 and 4 year college standout types, which is just fine by me.

I stayed up to watch the second round last night and Julian did not even make Jay Bilas best 10 remaining. I felt I wasted sleep.

I was shocked that so many foreigners were picked--11 players (20% of draftees)--many of whom are still developing. One kid was 18 at 7', 205lbs. who averaged 2+ points and 2+ rebounds.

G-league Ignite showed it was a conduit to being drafted as 3 players (2 first round) were drafted as was the case in 2021. NCAA decision may make this a lesser alternative with the allowance of NIL's to contrast with the money spent on G League Incite. I believe that top players at top schools can "earn" more then G League Ignite's current salary structure which could forcr the NBA to up the ante to be attractive alternative
