Julian Champagnie’s Development

Mustapha Heron Averaged 15.2 Ppg and 6.1 rpg and 16.4 Ppg and 5.3 rpg in two years at Auburn playing D1 basketball of a very good conference. Last season he averaged 14.6 Ppg and 4.7rpg for SJU. Yes, so far this season Mustapha is struggling. So what. It happens.

Yet some of our keyboard warriors and alleged fans label him “soft”. Sad.
Not some, one, so consider the source. No correlation between losing confidence, playing poorly and being soft. A lot of respect for Heron the man cheering and happy for the team success when you know this slump has to be killing him. He is obviously not used to being on the bench but carried himself like the classy, genuine leader he is.
Yeah, should have said fragile since that's allowed. My bad, will never happen again
What you should do is $hitcan the “poor me” act. I don’t decide what is “allowed” on this site; the ones that do are provided very clearly at the top and bottom of each page. Heron is neither soft or fragile, he is in a slump, it has happened to even the very best at one time or another. His body of work at the high D1 level speaks for itself. So for you to come on here telling him what he should develop or how he should play is just ridiculous. If you knew anything you would know that the only thing one controls is mental attitude and physical effort and Heron’s play is not lacking in either of those departments. He hasn’t suddenly forgotten how to play, HE IS IN A SLUMP.
he was in a slump last year too then. Multiple people (not just me) said that this also happened last year, so it must have happened more than just 2 or 3 times.

I'll dig up last years game logs when i'll go home and get on my computer.
Champaigne is my favorite player. Since you know this thread is supposedly about him....
Heron problem is he does not have a strong enough handle and is not athletic enough to finish in traffic at the rim.
He is what he is a solid 14 point per game scorer. Funny people tried to blame Ponds for Heron "struggles" last year. When the only problem is the people miscasting him as a number one option.
He's a star on this team only because he was a 5* talent coming out of h.s. and he's a senior.
But, in reality he's a very good player when he's on.

There is a difference.

It’s not just a slump. He needs to figure out how to definitively get past people on drives without just shot faking. He needs to use his size to be able to post-up his defender and abuse them in that way. He’s too hesitant right now and doesn’t have a lot of go-to moves. He’s gotta work on these things as well as being quicker to a decision on which moves he’s gonna go to. We all want him to succeed in a big way. The manner at which he’s not thriving is difficult for fans to watch, as we all know he has all the size and talent in. The world. He just needs D’Lo’s killer instinct.

I can’t wait. Last year, Heron played hurt, played completely out of position on defense and was a true WARRIOR. I suggest you read and take to heart QueensBall’s excellent post offering you very sage advice. Me, you just earned a spot on my list of posters whom I pass over rather than read. I may make an exception with you but only when I need a good laugh.

Thank god.

Mustapha's three year track record suggests he'll figure it out . I'm sure our coaching staff will be looking to use the next two games against relatively weaker competition to find ways to help him break out of his slump. From all appearances, he's a great kid and a great teammate. A little patience wouldn't hurt.

My take on Heron in the Julian Champagnie's Development thread is that he knows he's the man on this team and he takes it seriously and is just thinking too much. Everything has to be perfect and nothing is. More artist and less scientist and he'll get back on track.

I am also, i just say how i see it, and won't apologize for it, it's my opinion.
Hopefully by conference play he'll be back, we'll need him.
Yet you apologized in your immediate post to this one!

lol maybe being sarcastic? Do you really think I give a rats ass?
Yeah, I'm sure Moose really cares what Eric Williamson thinks too.

Admittedly it was off of just one game I caught on the interwebs but JC has wildly exceeded my expectations for him so far. Hope he continues to work hard and improve because he can be a real nice player for us over the course of his collegiate career.

The manner at which he’s not thriving is difficult for fans to watch, as we all know he has all the size and talent in. The world. He just needs D’Lo’s killer instinct.
You are right, he is too hesitant. Players of Heron’s ability become hesitant when they lose confidence not because they have forgotten how to play. After 3 highly successful years he now has forgotten how to play and needs to figure it out? Sorry, not buying it for a second. Players go through ups and downs, they are not robots. He had two lights out games shooting to start the year and since has shot poorly and is seemingly fighting himself a bit. I will call it a slump, you call it what you want

If you’ve watched any of the games, he’s playing in a very hesitant manner. He’s not committing to shots and often half-shooting them. He’s not committing to driving nor shooting at times. It’s his body language on the court. It certainly has created a slump.

He’s just pressing. He’s passing up on his open looks and trying to get closer but tougher looks. He’ll be ok. MA will help take the pressure off of him.

CMA should tell him to shoot it, and keep on shooting, 25 times
He might start 2-10, but the only way to break out of it is to keep shoting. Hit the next 3,build a little confidence, that 5-13, maybe finish 12-25? You have to keep shooting.
Now if he's 3-15 then yeah stop shooting because he's in trouble.
Mods, may as well close this thread, been “O’Tooled”
Yes Mods, Paultz spoken, even though this is a discussion.

Are there insults being throwing around? cussing?
Personal attacks? I don't see any.

But the king has spoken.

What am I doing wrong other then debating Heron?

Did I disrespect anyone or using vulger?

I get it, I can't call him out, even though he's a senior, I would get it if he was a young freshman, but I'd think with the experience in college that he should better then this.
I won't ever be negative about his game ever again, in fact to make everyone happy on this board, I'll praise him every game.
I'm out.
