Jordan Done

@NYPost_Brazille: For those asking, yes #sjubb has two open scholarships now. Federico Mussini and Georgios Papagiannis are the top targets.

Forget Carter - these are the two guys that I want

I think landing Mussini as soon as possible helps a lot with Papagiannis.

Oh well! I was hoping for the best with RJ but it is what it is. Blown opportunity for him but he's got the talent to make it work somewhere if he can get it together. Moving on...

Really excited to see LoVett get the chance to run the show as a freshman. Psyched about the possibility of Mussini. Jordan gone opens up plenty of playing time for the young guys to develop. I have a feeling it'll be a tough but fun season.

Thank you Jordan for stopping by, and I wish you all the best in the world. The chances of making the big league are slim now, but I hope you make it

Well said. I could not agree more. Hopefully the new players we get will want to be here, and appreciate the chance they are given. 15 HS players coming to visit. I hope we land a few.

Think the title was Get Carter, not Forget Carter. :)

Not that he was going to make it but I am assuming he can't play in the NBA next year since he qualifies as a potential early draft entry and didn't declare by the deadline. Assume that means he can only play D League or overseas until next year's draft. Am I correct?

Jordan's talent and upside is always tantalizing. For that reason, I did have some hope that he might mature and buy into Mullin's program.

That said, I am ready to move on without the drama. There is something good about starting fresh.

Correctamundo!

IMO, Jordan goes down with Michael Porter as what could have been. Two players with talent who could have been remembered as great talents who did us proud instead of two who didn't realize there is work to be done off and on the basketball court and the gym. They were not asked to be A students but just go to class and to take the opportunities available to them via study hall and tutors to get passing grades. Instead one decides to hang out in Philly while the other, only facing ineligibility for the Fall or maybe the year, decided to blow off finals and go to the Bahamas with his girlfriend (at least it wasn't Philly hanging out with the fellas who brought you down).

We all fail at something. The winners get up and dust themselves off and start over again. Boo Harvey, like his Juco teammate Porter, had academic trouble, was ineligible for the one semester (I know he sat out the whole year but I can neither confirm or deny he was eligible for the second semester but since the team was young and at best NIT bound, which they did win, he sat out the whole year for a shot with a young team with a year of experience). Boo is remembered for turning a disappointment to a positive, hitting big game winning shots. A man of few words who no one can speak ill of who was a positive guy who overcame adversity and was and still is a representative of what is right about St. John's and what its mission is about. Jordan and Porter, history is and will be written about what could have been and how they wasted an opportunity,

I don't wish Jordan ill will aa d wish him the best, but what could have been.

@NYPost_Brazille: Rysheed Jordan was given opp. to get eligible for second semester in December. Just wasn't going to happen. #sjubb

Didn't make sense from the beginning. Why in the world did Jordan even say he was returning? Did he
think he had a chance academically? And why didn't Mullin and staff realize there was no chance of his playing this season. Did they not bother to check Rysheed's academic standings. Just saying...

Jack, keeping score with Lav's participants, most were academically on the edge as it was. CM left it up to the young man and he opted out. It might be better in the long term. Let's start over.

Why would Jordan say he was returning? Because we live in a world where HS and college athletes are often handed grades they don't deserve. Sometimes its a legitimate bending of the rules - how many D1 basketball players missed tons of classroom time? All of them. How many very good athletes receive inflated grades that a non-athlete would never get? Many if not most of them? How many schools have actually doctored grades to keep players eligible? One is too many, but it happens with far more frequency.

Jordan was hoping that as a nationally recognized superstar, his academic problems would simply vanish.

At Cuse and Carolina, they would have.

Schools make a lot of money with their sports program. Those that compete should have the rules be able to bend so athletes have the time to devote to make a program successful.Schools have parameters which they must follow when they do not there are consequences.Otherwise do away with college sports/do not treat it like a business which it has become 95% of these kids work hard on their sport and their gradesThere will always be those super kids that feel that their drum beats to a different beat most at tha level will go to the next level and make money until the nba changes it rules on when and what qualifications one must have to play at the next level things will remain as is and I for one enjoy college sports so I say leave things alone but treat all those who play equally. Think that is happening

@NYPost_Brazille: St. John's announces Rysheed Jordan's career in Queens is over. Seeking professional career. #sjubb

Thanks
I guess it never sounded promising especially with Chris' comments, tentative, lukewarm.
Imagine what Jordan's career will be as opposed to what it could have been.
Wow done likely difference.

I wish him luck. He came to st johns when he could have gone elsewhere. It was a rough ride but he did have personal problems which were overwhelming for someone his age.
