Jordan Done

I hope RJ can learn from this. Very disappointed in the news that he's gone, but like many I'm not surprised.

He could never seem to exhibit that combination of doing his job exceptionally while also standing in line with the rest of the troops as a good soldier (the latter proved to be difficult for him). All the best to RJ, but its just another step away from the Lavin reign

Does the staff push for Carter now?

Not hearing that, but who knows. Mussini is prime target & I believe they will take shot at Big Papa. We'll see.

@NYPost_Brazille: For those asking, yes #sjubb has two open scholarships now. Federico Mussini and Georgios Papagiannis are the top targets.

At the Mullin press conference I spoke to a couple of students who worked in the AD. Really nice students. I mentioned Jordan, and the nicer one, who came off as just really a good and a decent kid, said about Jordan, "He's a bad kid. He's not nice at all.", and repeated it a few times.

Some kids have such a difficult time adjusting to college life, partly because of their upbringing, and partially because they've had their egos fed by people telling them they will be NBA players. They arrive here with no expectation or interest in pursuing academics and want to do the bare minimum to get by and shoot straight to the NBA. Jordan's behavior here was not quite a train wreck, but close.

I try not to bash guys while they are here, but now that he's gone, I don't hesitate to call him what he is - a kid who should never have been in college to begin with - not because he was academically deficient, but because it is clear he never wanted to be here in the first place.

Ha! Zach must have just read your post and then tweeted the information. ;)

Of all sad words of tongue and pen. The saddest are these , 'it might have been'

Sad day. I truly believe Mullin could have helped him, both on and off the court. The ironic thing is that unlike so many of our recruits, Jordan did not appear to have any academic issues coming in. It was all attitude/bad influences. I hope for his sake that he can make a run at the pros, but it'll be an uphill battle.

RJ is the loser here. He needed SJU a lot more the other way around. He always had that Philly noise in his ears. I don't think he took school seriously, or looked at it as a gift and a wonderful platform to the next level. Now he will do it the hard way, I wish him luck.

Here's a fair question: Where would @StJohnsBBall be right now if it hadn't hired #ChrisMullin and new staff to recruit? #disasteraverted

More than a fair question. I shudder to think about it.

Jordan would have required a lot more than Mullin to grow up. Eight weeks of basic training in nearby Ft Dix might have helped but he would have been AWOL in a matter of days.

Landing either one of them would be great, both would be incredible. I'm confident that RJ's departure will affect him more than it will SJU basketball. He had a golden opportunity on many levels, and now it's gone.

True because it will only affect STJ basketball for one year, every misstep RJ has taken since leaving HS including this one will affect him his entire life.
