That's awesome for Stef. When we brought him in last year I thought he had a chance to be a major contributor. Didn't quite turn out that way but he seems like a really good kid. Not the highest level of pro basketball obviously, but it's never a bad thing to get paid to do what you love, plus he's not going to be far from home. Also, believe it or not, I grew up in Guelph, Ontario so this is extra cool for me.
 
Does the little guy in the gray suit standing in front of Pinzon look like Curbello?
No he doesn’t. That’s Jason Simpson, a freshman walk-on from Florida who dressed and got into a couple of early games but spent the rest on of the year on the sidelines not in uniform. Not sure if he was injured or not.
 
Isiah Nyiwe is a key player to watch for next season. Developed quickly under coach Anderson.
Has size, quickness and his outside shooting became legit as the season progressed. Needs to cut down on fouls and inprove decision making. Passes extremely well for a big forward.

Queens, N.Y. (April 13, 2022) –
St. John’s guard Tareq Coburnearned national recognition on Wednesday for his excellence on the court and in the classroom. Coburn was one of only 12 men’s basketball student-athletes in the country named to the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association’s Scholar-Athlete Team. Coburn joined Creighton’s Ryan Hawkins as the only BIG EAST student-athletes to receive the prestigious recognition.

Coburn, a 2021 CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American who graduated from Hofstra with a bachelor’s degree in community health, is pursuing a master’s degree in the highly selective physician’s assistant program at St. John’s. He played in 27 games and made three starts for the Red Storm this past season while carrying a 3.7 grade point average.
